I have an A10 18 ZL1 with zero regrets.
I do daily drive it. As it should be with a vehicle like this. Not driving to keep miles low for resale value is like not banging the misses to keep her fresh for the next guy. At full throttle things happen pretty quick in this car and this trans seems to do everything right and always be in the right gear at the right time. Performance transmission mode is a thing of beauty imho. I have done a track day and ripped out down the 1/4 mile. Worked great. Good Luck with your decision......

I have an M6... ...Not sure if I would have as much connection with car if it was an A10. My rule of thumb is A for commuter vehicles, A/PDKs for fastest lap times, M for most connection/fun!

My 13 ZL1 was a M6 and now my ZLE is as well. I daily (in the summer) traffic and all wouldn't change it for anything. No 3ed peddle= No way for me.

One advantage of the Automatic is you only need one hand :-). Just had stitches put in a couple of fingers and had to cancel two track day weekends as I have a Manual.

I have a manual 6 in the Viper and the A10 in the Zl1.
I bought my ZL1 as a daily driver and it's been fun at that! All of my cars have been manuals. The Zl1 was my first auto. The dealer let me test drive one that was used and said I could flog it if I wanted to. I loved it. I'm still happy I went with the A10. I feel more connected in the Viper. I feel more comfortable in the ZL1. Both have their plus side. I chose the A10, as I am in a high traffic area, and am using it as a commuter... one badass commuter car. |

Get the A10.. The feeling of it ripping through gears at WOT is amazing! Coming from a former manual guy.

The A10 is an absolute beast. Upshifts make you think it's a Dual Clutch actually. Downshifts are also some of the best I've seen on anything with a Torque Converter.
So unless you really want a manual you shouldn't get one. The fact that you're asking makes me think you'll probably regret buying one. Especially if your commute involves a lot of stop and go traffic. I waited 6 months for my 6MT as we had to custom order it. I'm not chasing quarter miles or lap times - it's all about the 3 pedals and rowing my own gears. The 6MT has a nice throw and a sharp shifter feel, absolutely love it. |

So, considering I do not have a long commute and El Paso traffic isn't to bad, seems I've decided to go with a manual. I found a 2017 with 8.3k overall miles, but with a failed oil pump around 7.8k miles under GM warranty the there was a new engine crate installed and the engine # shows it's a 2019 engine build, with only 500 miles on it. Seems like I am getting a brand new engine not even fully broken in, manual with some small cosmetic mods and a 10/10 interior for 47k. Seems like a steal to me. Any input?

Yes a good deal for that 2017! If the replacement engine doesn’t worry you then I say go for it if you really like and want it!

Question: why does a failed fuel pump = crate engine replacement?

Shiittt, I said fuel pump I meant to say oil pump very sorry. But no, I feel having a brand new 2019 would actually be good? What's your thoughts on that?

Any concerns I should have with the 2019 replacement crate engine? I feel since it's a brand new engine and a 2019 build it should be pretty reliable and it seems the 2019 builds dont have the oil pump issues like some of the builds from 2017. Should I be concerned with the new crate or the opposite? Thank you
