GM called me today. They told me that they WERE NOT going to pay a car payment. I told them that the last advisor said they would. They said it was not approved even though my first adviser said it was.

They did extend my powertrain warranty to 7 years and 100,000 miles.

So they think it's OK to keep your car for 75+ days for repairs and not compensate you in any way? Extending the warranty is nice, but in a different category altogether.

Yes it has all been so shady there’s no way I’d buy a GM vehicle again.

Force them to prove that there was absolutely no way your failure or the vehicles behavior leading up to the failure could have caused this.

When they can't, no charge. You should be handing this all off to the rep you're dealing with now anyway... after 70 days there should be NO question on any repairs at this point.

So they should take care of that cat problem under warranty since it's part of the powertrain.

Sorry must be so frustrating to say the least. The extended warranty is nice...BUT. Either way certainly wish you the best. And, that they end up learning to compromise with you in this situation in the end, certainly better than they apparently have with the UAW strike negotiations so far. NEEEEED this strike to end for parts for my own repair!!

Yes I think there also is a federal law that says they have to warranty the cat for 8 years.

Thanks! The way I look at it, I have a new engine, and a warranty for another 44,000 miles. I paid $27,000 for this car! I have to look at it as a win.

Yes the dealership said the strike is affecting them getting parts.

The lesson here is that if you get offered something, get it in writing.

I received a letter from GM saying my power train warranty has been extended to 131,000 miles or Oct 31, 2024. That is 5 years or 75,000 miles.

Spun main bearing is rare on these engines. Sorry it took 70 days .... not sure what I would do.

I just read the whole tread and I think one part is actually missed. I thought catalytic Converters are suppose to run lifetime if they are not rusted and/or get holes on them.

Also isn't $27k way too much for that ?
I had an 2010 Mazda, where I got brand new catalytic for $2k. They didn't have it in stock and dealer said they have to order it all the way from Japan. The reason I paid that catalytic was for labor and wasn't for the part. At least that's what I've been told at that time.

Yes catalytic converters have a federally mandated warranty of 8 years. The catalytic converter was replced free.

$27k is what I paid for the car originally.
