I can confirm, at least according to 2 dealers here in So Cal that Chevy is not allowing orders to be placed on ZL1s for the brake restrictions. The manufacturing and delivery won't complete before 2021 so they can't place an order.

I told them I wasn't interested in anything on the lot and was willing to wait until the '22s if they can't place an order and they said they'd follow up mid '21.

They were, however, happy to sell me anything on the lot, so I'm not so sure about the stop sale.

The manufacturing of the CAR won't be done. But the pads very likely could be - and they're only a component. This is why the limitations on placing orders is so brain-numbing.

I find it baffling that GM would exclude certain models from being sold in the largest state in the country. As said earlier, would Brembo brakes also be used on a new Corvette? So why could the arrangement between GM and Brembo simply change the brake pads to a Copper compliant product? But they are willing to wait until 2022.

If the Camaro really is going away after 2023, and the number of high end Camaros actually sold. Would it be too far fetched that Chevrolet simply won't sell the ZL1 in California anymore?

I'm with you... There's simply no reason for this to be taking place unless GM is looking for a reason to cut production numbers and/or drive prices up. Clearly, Brembo can manufacture pads that are compliant. Clearly, GM has other sources for pads that are not as 'strong' (for the xLT trims, for example). Are they doing it simply to ease the manufacturing burden in general because of COIVD?

CLEARLY, there is a purposeful reason for GM to do this. They're being dodgy about it, as expected.

So does this mean that we will no longer be able to purchase these particular Brembo Brake pads in the future?

If you live in CA or WA, they will ONLY be able to sell "NOS" (new old stock) of it, manufactured prior to 1/1/2021. But, since vendors have their collective heads up their butts, you'll either never see them again or the price for the NOS stock will go sky high.

Ugh that's what I was afraid of, from my experience with my ZL1 I love the brake pad/rotor combination that comes stock. Where can the original brake pads be purchased?

I think I mentioned it already but California is looking to pass a law where in 2035 they will ban the sell of new gasoline powered passenger vehicles. Then 10 or so years later, they'll ban the sell of new commercial vehicles.

And Alaska is the biggest country in the USA followed by Texas.

Currently it is an executive order by Gov. Newsome.

I was speaking in terms of population. I don't understand why Chevrolet would limit the number of cars they can sell in California. A state with the greatest potential for sales.

If they go through with what I mentioned, it won't matter what GM did.

No one will be able to any new passenger vehicle in California.

NOT in CA or WA. And you will not be able to buy them online and have them shipped directly to you, either. You'll have to get creative.
