Canada to Florida Drive

Hey everyone, Ill be making a drive from southern Ontario to Orlando Florida come April.

I was wondering what have people done for long trips in the past? I have my rock guards on the car. The car is Ceramic coated, but I dont have the side ZL1 trim pieces yet( kinda outa budget atm) but i am thinking of Taping my car up or putting TrakWrap on it.

Has anyone done anything in the past for long highway drives and such before? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

I lived in Florida for nearly 30 years and drove back and forth to Michigan 2 or 3 times a year. All different vehicles. Never have done any sort of "special" preventive things. No ppf, tape, bras. Nuthin. I always drove straight thru which was 18 to 22 hours. A good wash upon arrival and that was it. I just don't worry about it.

Similar for me. Several road trips in my last ZL1 and hellcat and now my new ZL1 and never needed anything covering the front.

You could do track wrap or novistretch for the Camaro. Try to keep distance from vehicles in case they throw up rocks. Then the rest is luck. The biggest thing you have to worry about are the rock chips.

Google "camaro6 tracwrap" to find posts/threads here. You can try using the forum search function but it doesn't work as well as Google. Their website is xpel.com.

I did an ~850 mile drive from Detroit to Kansas City, I used 2" blue painters tape on the behind the front tire, the lower door and then in front of the rear tire.

No problems.

If you don't have PPF on the car you, as was mentioned above, could consider a Novistretch cover. I purchased one for the 5 hour drive home when I picked up my car from the dealership. It would provide some protection and help keep bugs off the front of the car.

TracWrap is your friend. Just did a 1,000 mile drive from Dallas to Orlando and my wife and I wrapped the nose of the car. Huge peace of mind.

Sweet looking Blackwing! Really awesome car.

How hard is the TracWrap to remove?

Thanks! It’s exactly what I wanted…a ZL1 with 4 doors and a better interior.

Took me about 20 min to pull it all off. Left no residue, but it was covered with dirt and bugs. And it stopped at least one impact that we heard. I bought the 12”x40’ and 4”x20’ rolls off Amazon.

Thats awesome. I have thought about this stuff a bunch, except for the price. 200$ for the 12x40 for me, I just got a quote for PPF on the entire front bumper, headlights and splitter for 850$ that also includes re-ceramic coating it. I think i might be leaning this way for the price then its done for years.

That was one of my ideas also. Wasnt sure if it had to be the automotive tape though?

I drive every year from Kentucky to Louisiana. Just drive your car. No need for anything special.

Bose noise cancelling head set is very nice to cancel out the road noise. It will increase your fatigue level on a long trip, the road noise that is.
