All that could have been saved if they had just thrown a manual release somewhere in the car. I mean, would it have killed them? This must be the reason why the Camaro is doomed...

For what it is worth, I ran across this; Bulletin #16-NA-369 earlier today.

It appears that this is a variant of the standard ZL1 for weight savings.

ANY TIME you disconnect the battery in the Camaro, you take a towel and you fold it in quarters and lay it over the trunk latch. Remember that for next time.

How about unlatching the hood and hooking up a spare battery to the jumper posts? Then you'll be able to pop the trunk.

edit: I see it was already suggested and problem already solved. Yay!

Since I only disconnected the negative, I pulled up my truck and hooked jumpers to the connections under the hood and this powered the car so that I could pop the trunk with the electronic button.

They were in the middle of a Time Attack event, switching trunks was quicker than removing/installing wings. Pretty smart until the trunk thing happened but when you're on track, goofy shit happens because you're all over the place.

I LOL'd when I read this, simply because I thought about how simple, obvious and correct this statement is now that I've read it. I think of myself as a pretty smart guy, but when I was reading through the problems I thought about mitigation (how to avoid doing it) not how to help them fix it in an easy way and if you have access to the cabin, this IS the best way. Bravo.
