Dealer Charging $299 for "Forever Start".

Hey guys, my dealer is trying to charge me $299 for "Forever Start". Does anybody know what that is? I searched it and nothing. Dealer says battery warranty... Any ideas?

Free lifetime battery replacements maybe? Wouldn't actually be a bad deal, heh

I'll pay it if that's the case! I just paid $100 for a 3 year for my 68 Firebird!

Ya, kind of sounds like some kind of lifetime battery program. Seems a lot of the shops around here try to sell you lifetime this or that to keep you always coming back to them. Most around here to a lifetime alignment. I have yet to buy into any of those programs.

Sarcastic guess? Road service to jump start your car for a *battery issue* (only)

Whatever it is, just remember to read the fine print: the large print gives, small print takes away: basic contract language 101

Sounds like another way they want to take money from you. I wouldn't agree to anything unless you see the contract (in writing) and decide you actually want what it offers. For example, if it is really for battery replacement is it really 'forever'? Is there a limit to how many replacements? Does it specify what type of replacement battery it would actually be? Would it be a new battery? Do you have to pay labor for them to install it? How do they decide if your battery needs replacement? Is it pro-rated?

Bottom line is, don't agree to anything unless you know exactly what you are getting. Usually dealers offer these type of things so they can make more money.

Hmmm... I wonder if I can get a lifetime alignment for the ZLE just to keep swapping back and forth between street/track mode. Maybe if I buy 2 lifetime alignments?

If it's a lifetime of ensuring that the car starts, I suggest you open up an Ebay store that sells keyfob and car batteries....

I'm thinking you need to have them install it and they charge you out the a$$ for that.

Yep, many shops around here to a lifetime alignment program. Normally under $200. You can take your vehicle in whenever you want to have it checked/adjusted.

Most average drivers are over their head putting gas in the car. They need lights and beepers to go off if they drive too close to the lines on the highway... they have to ask why the OIL idiot light is lit....after the motor blows....
300 bucks for the convenience of knowing the brand new $50,000.00 car you just bought with $1200 down and a 10 year mortgage at 7% sounds like a hell of a bargain!!!!
At least the salesman thinks so...
