ZL1 1LE track setup

Guys,
First track day with this particular car...I have to drive to/from the track in my 1lE....is it worth the time and money to do an alignment to track specs and then return it to street spec afterwards?
Not trying for a track record , just want to learn the car and a new track.
I would welcome input from anyone who had run it both ways.

Thanks,
Bill G

I think that it's worth it to save the tires. This is a heavy, powerful car, and they are admittedly hard on tires. If the alignment is not at track spec, I think that you'll probably get uneven wear, and therefore not get the amount of laps from the tires that you could have with correct alignment for the use.

I know it would be ideal to have the alignment setup for the track for track duty & a street alignment for street driving, but how bad would it be on the tires just to leave the car in track alignment spec for both? My car is not a daily driver & will see some occasional track time so I’m wondering if the alignment should be set one way or the other or just pony up and get an alignment done between each use?

I leave mine with the track alignment. I like it better on the street as well. It is not a daily driver but I have not noticed any excessive or unusual tire wear.

My tires wear perfectly just setting camber to track. I don't daily either so it works out just right.

I'll probably do the track alignment once I find someone I trust and get the bolts.

Pardon my ignorance, but what bolts?

If you just switch plates from street to track you WILL need to re align toe, Long duration on track alignment on street accelerated inner camber wear as well for me.

Gonna keep my 3r’s for dry track days...just got MPS4S for wet track and daily..
I was afraid that the neg camber would accelerate inner wear too much,,
Thanks,
Bill

I leave mine at track. Two point seven degrees of negative camber with the correct toe is fine for me for street driving and wear is minimal

Great to know. I think I'll go this route.

2.7 is what wore more tires out in 500 miles. See other thread.

Mine is set to track alignment and camber, feels great on the street and looks more aggressive. I don't daily my car just drive on weekends and plan to do around 1 track day a month. I haven't had it long enough to see any additional wear yet, will have to chime back in later but would juat set it and forget it imo.
