Need some opinions fellas f1x or apg twins
Car is a 416 with a f1a 12 rib currently. It has ported heads, JRE blower cam, squash with id1000s, all forged, 100% meth /93 , manual car. Just want some honest opinions between the 2. Im wanting more power and i will 1/4 mile the car 3-4 times a year but may also auto x it a couple times. Thanks for any input.
Probably doesnt matter but it has rpm level 7 trans and a dss 9" conversion 3.50 ratio so it should take what we can throw at it for a little while anyhow. |

sell the blower setup and go twins. You'll be much happier never having to worry about belt issues again

LOL! I'm gonna vote for AGP. I have has both centri and now TT. I prefer the TT for my style of driving. It is also a huge plus that you can easily dial in how much power you want (depending on turbos) with your boost controller.
No belt slip, no pulley swaps. Right now I'm running 800 rwhp, swap over to stronger engine, same turbos to crank out +1000 rwhp.

Agp plus a bigger set of injectors, but first i would check how well your current cam will do with tt since its a blower cam that may make the choice for you easier

Why are you questioning in the first place? Are you happy or not happy with your F1A? Going twins is definitely a plus, but the F1X is a monster too...

Twin 61mms (dynoed in 5th gear) VS YSi (dynoed in 4th gear) on same 377ci engine. Peak HP for both setups was 1026 but look at the difference in torque. A centri does not produce the torque turbos will. Smaller turbos would have brought the torque on sooner. The car had to be dynoed in 5th with the turbos because it was shutting down the dyno. Estimated at 1130whp in 4th.

Turbos are a great way to go but if you're already that invested in your Procharger there is nothing wrong with the F1X

I dont treally think you can compare the two dyno graphs when run in different gears like that. I know 10 years ago when i had my car on a dynapack I had to run in 5th too because it overloaded the dyno in 4th.
TBH the numbers it came up with were just silly though Although as for a blower or turbos... If you're perfectly happy with how the F1 performs, sounds, drives etc etc and does an F1X bolt into the same brackets etc ? Then that surely has to be the most sensible and cheapest option. That said, reading YB would put you off as a lot of F1X's seem to go bang ! If you are not all happy with the above, then turbos make for a very versatile option, quiet, smooth etc Really, they're 2 very different, but both excellent power adders. |

I, too, remember on yellowbullet recently people complaining of their F1X's blowing up even after being freshly rebuilt. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh....php?t=2449010 According to the last two posts in the thread, the issue seems to be with cog drives and the serpentine drive belt system seems to be the bandaid (Sorry BiggFoot!) |

I really dont think a graph can tell a true picture of the differences though...although as there really are so many sizing options with turbos...again, there can be so many answers.
I can say that for the most part, my YSI was more exciting than the turbos simply because throttle response as instant everywhere. And dont think for one second that at low rpm when they are not making visible boost....that they are not helping performance. They are. But I can make more power with the turbos, they're quieter, more discrete...and I like that. And no worries over belts. And far more flexible in terms of power to the driver via boost control ( and yes I have also used boost control with the blower, but in no way whatsoever is it as good or flexible and many will say it can be hard on the blower ) Really there is no right or wrong answer, they're both great. |
