PRAY Performance STG 1 Modified H/C package dyno numbers.
Tony Moffre's modified STG 1 H/C package. Graph 1 is 6th gear E81. Graph 2 is 5th gear vs. full bolt on E98
Details: The base numbers were made with stock Heads/Cam, MSD, Kooks 1 7/8" non-catted headers, Kooks full exhaust to bullet mufflers, Roto-fab w/ Dry filter, straight E85 tune but E content was around 98%. Car has the stock converter. I added my custom spec STG 1 cam modified for Tony's requests of sound. Ironically the STG 1 modified cam now has more overlap than the current STG 2 cam. It has 4* less intake duration but has the same exhaust lobe. The lobe sep is the same but the advance is different. I will start another post about the differences in this car and the STG 2 car later. We are also running stock compression. I ported the Heads/MSD/TB. I added a Flex Fuel sensor and we swapped up to 2" headers. Then I completely rewrote the tune and tuned the trans. We also ended up at only 81% E for follow up dyno runs as opposed to the 98% for the baseline. The car is rolling on some 315 Toyo R888's that I am sure are not helping the numbers any. We also had to VHT the car to the dyno today to get it to not spin. In my opinion the cam drives better than stock. You can lope it in first at 900rpm and there is ZERO bucking or surging. 6th Gear numbers. 5th Gear numbers over base line test.

Thanks buddy. Everything is still a work in progress. Developing and building. Trying to find that perfect combo.

Great work Brett.. any closer to a resolution for the flattening up top? Seems once you get that figured this stg 1 has another 500-600rpm to continue making power.

Wow!! Great work. Would love to hear a sound clip of this stage 1 to compare with my stage 1 and I would love to hear how the bullets sound. Do you have a file of my stage 1 you could overlay with this stage 1. Difference being mostly 2 inch kooks vs 17/8 arh and stock Intake vs msd. It’s outstanding that Brett and this community are willing to work together and experiment to push the limits of what’s possible with this platform 👍👍

Thanks guys.
To hear idle clips go to my FB or IG pages. This cam sound SICK. It hits a hard lick. If someone can pull it from there and put it in here that would be awesome. There are two really good videos. I went to a 12* split on this cam solely for sound but it seemed to work. It was a complete reworking from the standard STG 1. I also changed where the overlap happens in reference to TDC and where the EVC happens. I went back to my roots and how I have always spec'd cams. I will admit that with the original STG 1, the current STG 2 and 3 I went a little more main stream with where I put the overlap and I think if may have cost me a little. The cam I am putting in my car was supposed to only have a 10* split but it is going to have an 11* split due to lobe availability. My cam will be roughly 14* larger than this one and have 2.5 times the over lap. I have biased the overlap event back to what I am used to, well, close to what I am used to. The real curious thing will be to see if my cam carries out like this one does or if I still get the hard drop off lake the STG 2 and STG 3. I still got the hard KR event right at 6,800. IDK WTF that is still but I will eventually figure it out. So I feel that there could be something to losing low side pump on the larger cams or that I didn't have enough split or incorrect valve timing for my flow numbers and valve sizes with these new heads. This small cam carried the power very well in my opinion. It really didn't die till it hit that hard "KR" event at 6,800. The 6th gear run ran out of factory mph. That is what caused that immediate fall off at 6,500. It would have kept pulling for sure.

WTF, that thing cannot be a Stage 1. That video says you're blurring the lines between Stage 1 and Stage 2. =)
Forgive my ignorance in this next question -- are you able to datalog the KR sensor itself or is it just a table you read from the ECU? Could there be a safety net in the ECU that logs a high knock event as a trigger for over-rev protection? From everything you have said about your experiences with this 6800rpm limit, it sounds like you may be hitting an artificial limp mode in the computer that GM put there to protect the car and themselves. |

Something in there is holding it back. We will find out soon if it is the cam or not.
