ZL1 1LE track camber strut pics

I had difficulty finding a clear pic or video which showed a nice picture of the correct orientation of the strut at "track camber". The GM performance manual only says turn the strut 180° until "track camber" is visible...pfft.

Jack and support the car on one side. I left the wheel on but you could remove it for better access. Use a 5mm or H5 allen wrench to remove the brass colored pin. The allen screw is tucked at the back/underside but accessible under the strut plate. The allen screw isn't tight at all so it is easy...grip the top brass protrusion as it will spin. Remove brass part from top and remove the allen screw from the bottom.

Next, remove the (3) 13mm strut plate bolts and set aside. Take some tension off the assembly by using the top of the wheel for leverage with your knee/arm/whatever. Do NOT use a pry bar or equivalent as shown in one Youtube...geez. Use a 19mm socket for the strut top and rotate clockwise while pressing the top of the wheel/tire inward and you will see the three bolt holes appear and the word "track camber". The GM supplement says 180° which is weird considering we are talking about a triangle here.

Reinstall the three strut bolts with your fingers and torque to 21ft/lbs. The brass pins do not fit at track alignment so save them in a safe place. See pics below for reference:

Nice write-up. Was about to do this in prep for my 1st track event next week.

Should be a sticky!

Does that gold alignment detent need to be reinstalled when switching back? It seems unnecessary.

I mean when switching back to standard/street camber. Why bother putting the detent back?

That lets you increase range for camber, does not FIX the toe that gets all jacked.

Doing this without toe adjustment will results in DESTROYED tires very quickly.

OP - Thanks for this. Are you even going to bother switching back to the street camber/alignment settings?

I hit a max of 3 track events a year. Majority of my driving is back roads. Wondering if I should just leave in the track camber setting (-2.75F) all the time.

You don’t ever really need to switch it back anyway. You can get a good street alignment with the camber plates set to track anyway. Like another poster mentioned just make sure you’re setting your toe each time you change the camber.
