Ceramic coating wheels

I hate brake dust.
Did you apply ceramic coating to your wheels? If you did, were you happy with the results ?

Yes and yes.

Doesn’t stop brake dust from sticking to the wheels. It just makes cleaning so much easier. Most of the time spraying the wheels with my 2000 PSI electric power washer will remove moderate amounts of brake dust without any scrubbing.

Or you can just change the pads and almost never see dust again. That and my new rims and i barely have to clean them now.

The brake dust on the stock pads is really awful. Yes they bite harder, but for normal street driving the powerstops I have on mine are perfectly fine.

No, but I will...only after I pull the original wheels and replace the pads with a much lower dust alternative. The alternatives typically have a little less initial bite, but are still way more braking power than you need for the street. So, if you’re not tracking, that’s an option.

I was going to keep the original pads, but I’ve given up. Less than a 50 mile drive w/ dust all over the wheels and sides of the car has beaten me down. Easy removal of that much dust w/ ceramic coating, is still more work than I’d prefer to do.

Yes and yes. Had mine professionally done though, didn't do them myself. It's like cleaning brake dust off a new non-stick pan. Love it.

Yes and yes. I used GTechniq C5 wheel armor and it makes it 100x easier to clean the wheels. No more scrubbing or having to even use a dedicated wheel cleaner, just hit them with a dedicated wash mitt and car shampoo at the end of washing the rest of the car.

I had my stock ss rims powder coated and ceramic coated, and my current zl1 stockers done the same way.

while I'd never attempt to ceramic coat these busy-as-hell rims on my own, the shop did it and I wouldn't have it any other way. as mentioned, they do get dirty still, but it seems it takes a hair longer than usual, and most of it comes of with just a spray with the hose, vs not at all before.

Yes and Yes. Actually used both Cquarts and CarPro UK. Makes them so much easier to clean.

No. The wheel is obviously a harsh environment and the sprays will not hold up long. I would say few, if any, will be able to mimic the properties of a true ceramic coating. Ceramic coating them really isn't that difficult, just take your time and follow the manufacturer directions, you will be happy with the results.
