Anyone who wants to "rewrite" history can go - themselves. Everything around our country today, they can all seriously go - themselves.

But I digress.....

There's nothing wrong with building electric or whatever flavor of the day tree huggers want. That's fine. I have no problem with GM building a 1,000 hp electric car that can charge in 5 minutes and go 750 miles on a single charge. Or make it to run on unicorn farts. Whatever the people want, by all means if it means GM makes money I'm fine with it.

But don't ever put the Camaro badge on it. That's all I'm saying. Retire the Camaro badge before you "change history".

And what's your question about small block muscle? The small block was the Chevy OHV V8 in various displacements produced from 1954-2003 and was what made the Camaro an American legend. Our LT1 is a different engine but same principle.

Not true. I buy sporty cars that deliver the most bang for the buck. The V6 Camaro delivers big time. Very low cost for the car initially (if you buy used especially), lower insurance, excellent gas mileage- I average 33 MPG in mine, pretty decent performance with 334 HP, manual transmission, limited slip differential and runs on 87 octane.

The turbo 4 banger is good too, but not as good as the V6 as it requires premium fuel. This is a key reason why I opted for the V6.

Not entirely true that mods hurt fuel economy. I just put a tune on my 2.0T and saw an increase of 2-3 mpg on the highway. Others had claimed it, but that hadn't been my experience with tuning other cars so I didn't believe it until I saw it this past weekend on the way to and from an autox. It was on the 305 autox tires too, so I'd expect even more on the daily tires.

An overstressed, maxed out, micro motor vs the almost unlimited power and torque of the LTx? Hell no

While I find hybrid and electric cars interesting and having driven a few, they are great daily drivers, and I'm open to them as that, and only that. As someone who does autox and the occasional track day, the extra weight that comes along with them isn't worth the power. I'm sure the performance numbers will be there, but there is a reason Hellcats aren't favorites for track days.

As everyone else is saying, I've never once bought a vehicle for fuel economy. I wouldn't start now and I'd never start with my Camaro.

Obviously the Prius is nothing in terms of performance but I can crack some amazing fuel mileage numbers out of it and sometimes I cant help but wish to have my cake and eat it too.
I'm not following this at all.

I'm all about technology and performance. While the sound has a lot to do with how I view the vehicle, I'm not one of those guys who think that there's no replacement for displacement, nor do I measure my manhood by the number of cylinders a vehicle has. Therefore, if a hybrid 6 cylinder Camaro came out and I was in the market for a Camaro and said 6 cylinder out performed the V8 model, I'd buy the 6 cylinder without question.

Not even close to me. Maybe I can see guys coming from the 4 or 6 cylinder liking it but I can’t see anyone with an SS wanting a heavier, slower car for the extra fuel economy. If that was a concern I wouldn’t have bought it to begin with & besides that, they’re pretty decent on gas considering the power output.

I would never by a 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder camaro no matter what the performace/gas milege is. I understand technology is always moving forward and regs are calling for more mpg with lower cubes. I like the sound and torque of the V8, it makes me happy to drive it. It's not the same with 4 or 6 cylinder.

My situation is a bit different. I have a 700 hp V8 Camaro SS, so for a daily it was a no brainier to by my 6th gen V6 Camaro. I kind of get the best of both worlds at that point. Plus I ended up getting about 20% off my V6.

The benefits of the 2.0T and V6 are costs and weight, this would do neither of those things.
