I imagine there's a reason no one's positing it up. I can't imagine we aren't looking out for one another. On the upshot, at least it's out there. Now I know what i'm investing amount wise.

It can't be done. The USB thumb-drive must be in the computer for the service manual to be read. It acts as an unlock key. You are able to print pages if you desire.

$375 seems so damn expensive!! My Harley Davidson manuals were less than $100 from Harley Davidson themselves !!! And I thought those guys were rip-off artists !!

Well, at least the USB version costs "only" $250, and of course one can print pages off of it.

Still not cheap by any means, but I figured having quality OEM service information always at hand is worth 0.5% of what I paid for the car

Not available yet. I called a couple weeks ago. Was quoted iirc 249 for the USB. Hard copy was 375 iirc.
You guys may think I’m crazy but I think it’s a bargain. Try ordering a service manual for some of the heavy equipment I work on. They can be a few grand. And the service procedures to fix some of these machines.....yeah, they just say to replace this or that. Contact the manufacturer........no set procedure??????
I’m not joking.
There is more than a hundred times more stuff in the service manuals for our cars than the shit heaps I work on.

The problem that I have with the USB version is that the drive has to be installed in the USB port to work. With the advancement of technology, how long will USB ports be in PC’s? There is already major advancements in USB Technology, albeit to date they are backward compatible. Remember when all PC’s had 3.5” floppy drivers? Now, most do not.

So, several months ago I had myself talked into paying $375 for the printed version. Had it in my shopping cart and then learned that Helm charges $66 for shipping!?! Crazy rip-off!! If they used USPS Media Mail, it would cost less than $10 for shipping! So that ticked me off and I emptied my cart and now I am still stuck with watching YouTube video’s to see how things are assembled and there location, etc.

Good point on the 0.5% worth of the car and all the useful information that comes with it.

I have the 2017 Helm version, but it isn't "factory" quality. It is invaluable in doing work, but I have found multiple errors. The schematics are good, but there is essentially no narrative for most work. It is also 1000ish pages, so it is sometimes a pain in the ass to find the information that is relevant to what you need to do even with search and the index.

Heh, you mean 10000-ish. They probably take the previous year's manual and update it in chunks, errors or oversights (such as missing a change) easily creep in this way.
