1LE Recaro seats heated and cooled?!
So long story short after my cars at the dealership for 10 days while they drag their ass getting the PDI in the LPO's done I had enough and I took the car as is filled up the tank with gas myself and grab the car before they finish the final cleanup…
Lo and behold the interior seats still had their original shipping covers and had two very large stickers it made me wonder if the ZL1 and the one of the seats were mechanically identical just the one SS lacked the controller interface to use the heaters and the fans . I wonder if it was cheaper just to make identical seats and not offer for the controllers for the 1SS 1LE.... I'm gonna do some digging and maybe get somebody to take an x-ray of them to see if the fans and heaters are in fact installed if that's the case and we might be able to jury rig a couple of hidden switches to use them!

I have heard from Gen5 DIY that like Dodges interface, Chevy locked certain features on certain models but for the most part the ECM is the same across the board
I would give them a shout and have them look into it |

Heat, I could care less about...the vented part would be nice depending on how it works...the vented portion in my wife's Equinox is barely noticeable.

I for one would be ecstatic if I could put a couple toggle switches on the side of the seat for the heating/cooling!!! I've seen that done before when people have added heated seats to there cars. Though at the same time I kinda hope ours don't have all that stuff for weight saving reasons...

Great find! Should be interesting to see what you find underneath.
The heating pads aren't heavy.. unsure about the fans/etc for the ventilation. Last edited by WILWAXU; 04-04-2017 at 10:58 AM. |

My E92 M3 had something like that, except it was the rear fog lights. The mod was called the lego mod". The American market didn't have rear fog lights so they just used a different light switch and blocked off the button. All one had to do is remove the blocking plate and add legos to connect the button to the switch. Presto, rear fog lights. In this case, you might just need to buy the switches and plug in. There is hope.

I doubt it. I work at honda R&D and I'm pretty sure chevy's cost cutting department will not allow to put in the seat with Heating elements and blower fan installed in it. It's just waste of money for them.
Moreover FYI the fan blower for venting seats, It's a reasonable size unit. usually it is either at the bottom of the seat or at the reclining part very close to the pivoting location. If anyone is willing to take off the seat from the 4 anchors and pull it out of the vehicle it would be easy to spot the venting unit. as off for the heating elements, the top cover on the foam has to come off in order to see it. The venting seats do work really well ! I test drove a 2SS last weekend. It is as good as my Acura's TLX SH-AWD seats. I was really impressed by it. It can be a really useful feature during hot summers days especially with a dark colour interior.

And I Build Honda Seats..... we don't put Free heaters and Vented foam in all our seats. Look for extra wiring/couplers under the seat.
