Caliper paint
I'm looking to paint my calipers. What kind of paint do you guys recommend? Any special tips when doing this? I've only had them painted by a shop near me. I have the 2020 LT1, so brembos in the front and normal calipers in the back

VHT makes caliper paint. No experience with it, but it's gotta be flameproof.

But buy a new horsehair brush at Lowe’s, the brush in this kit is shit. But the paint is the best. |

I have used this kit-
https://www.autozone.com/paint-and-b...kit/539677_0_0 I really wanted black but only red was locally available. My main purpose for painting the calipers was anti-corrosion, not cosmetic. The Duplicolor kit works well and has held up nicely, but as Glen e said, buy another brush because the one included in the kit is basically useless. It will take 2-3 thin coats to cover without streaks. Don't even try to do it in one thick coat, all it will do is sag or run. If you set up all four corners for painting by the time you finish the last caliper you can start over and go right into the next coat. It is semi-transparent so if you want a super bright and uniform color you must use an undercoating to evenly hide the original caliper surfaces. Unless of course they were already painted as Brembos usually are. If you want more color selections, G2 would by far be your better choice.

I used the Dupli-Color brush on (red) and spray (Silver). The red was on my 2011 Mazdaspeed 3. I painted them while they were mounted and masked certain areas. They came out OK. The paint chipped in a few areas and it was easy to touch up. The spray was on my 85 Corvette, which I took the calipers off and was able to spray them. The spray came out better than the brush and held up better, no chips. (It also could be that the wheels were not nearly as open as on the MazdaSpeed 3).
I would go with spray paint if I had to do it over again.

I've used Duplicolor spray and brush, as well as the G2. The Dupli spray worked, but I felt the red finish was more dull than the brush on. The Dupli brush on works great, and holds up really well. The G2 also holds up, but I felt the G2 just applied a little less even, and had some brush strokes. Seemed to dry quicker. But they have TONS of colors. Which is nice.
Get a few good brushes....they one's the come with are crap, lol |

i did my 2011 calipers, used orange engine enamel from advance, added hi temp brembo decals from amazon, then clear coated with hi temp enamel. looked great years later when i traded it in (nov '19). You will need to pull the calipers to paint, I recommend paining the disk center hub and edge as well.
Ive already bought the decals for the 2019 but the originals are still new, lol.

I painted my rotor hubs with VHT Caliper Paint, I hated the Battleship Gray they were painted and wanted them black like my wheels..
Worked great! This part was the wife's idea!!! (How many wife's would say "Put your rotors in the oven!?!?!?!?!")

I’ve used VHT for years. Probably 25 years, since I started working on cars and I just painted my calipers red. Never had a problem with it and it lasts. Highly Recommended. Just spray it in thin coats, wait about 5 min between coats, and put 3-4 coats on. Then drive the car to heat up the brakes and bake it on.
