My first 1/4 mile event with the ZL1 (Famoso)
I don’t usually post these types of things, but I was surprised and quite happy with my results last night. My friend wanted to get some passes in his Chevelle, so I decided to bring my car out.
My expectations were fairly low based on several factors: It was hot during the day, and I had to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there. That and the car is only lightly modified (catted headers, Roto-Fab intake, TM ported TB, 160 t-stat, and a lightly tweaked tune by me). I have not unlocked the TCM or messed with any torque coefficients, so I figured that would hold me back. I did come armed with a set of 305/45/17 ET Street R drag radials, though. Anyway....all my passes were made in Sport Competitive Mode, with the suspension locked in Tour. I was ready to be disappointed, but in the end that didn’t happen. Overall, I’m very pleased considering it’s on stock boost and timing. Here’s my best pass of the night. I have an upper pulley that I’m going to install soon, so hopefully I can improve on this. Oh, I’m #92: Last edited by BMWM.D.; 10-02-2018 at 09:21 PM. |

That is actually phenomenal! Makes me question if increasing timing and leaning out the AFR is the best way to go. Sometimes less is more. Certainly was the case with my 2014 Shelby GT500.

If its shifting on time and you don't want to have problems with the trans I wouldn't mess with it. Great times and nice mph. Did you data log it? I'd do that for sure and look to see if knocking or pulling timing. I'd consider adding meth for the track and having a couple different tunes. That meth will cool the intake temps and allow you to run some more timing. I run a 50/50 mix of water and meth or you can run the blue autozone -20 or what ever it is. You'll will get into the 10.50 or 60's with that set up.

I did correct the MAF table for the intake and dial in WOT fueling with my wideband. It’s running at about .80 lambda, which is still considered a little rich by most. And I actually decreased timing a couple degrees in one area due to knock when street tuning. But I didn’t increase it anywhere, and I’m certain I could. |

I may do meth. I’ve had it on my last 3 cars. I was just going to do an upper pulley and call it a day. I feel like at that point I’m going to want to bump the torque limits in the trans. I know plenty of guys tweak the virtual torque instead, but I don’t like that idea. Last edited by BMWM.D.; 09-30-2018 at 05:23 PM. |

Haha...no. I would have been far too ashamed to post if I was the 12.11 guy. Definitely makes me feel good about my conservative/amateur street tuning, lol. My goal was to at least match GM’s official time, as I didn’t really think it was making much more power than stock. I’d love to see what it could do in good air.
