TSBs VIN specific?

I just got a call from my dealership regarding rear end clutch chatter. I took them a copy of TSB 17-NA-287 which does not indicate any VINs, just years of the car. Anyway, they said that I had to pay for the flush/cleaning because this TSB is VIN specific and my car is not covered.

I have a 2017 2ss A8 and the tsb shows all Camaro 2016-2019.

So, are TSBs VIN specific or are they just trying to get more $$$ out of me?

They're fishing. Check the TSB yourself, the VIN fields are blank, this potentially applies to all Camaros in the date range: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Chevrolet/17-NA-287

TSBs can certainly be VIN specific, but in this case, 17-NA-287 is not. As long as you have a limited slip diff (G80), the vehicle does not have salvage history which will void warranties, and the dealer may need to validate the noise claim themselves, the dealer needs to follow this service procedure. Try again at the dealership or else get yourself a new dealer to service your car.

An issue is an issue whether there is a TSB or not.

Just tell them to fix it!
