The C7 Stingray launched with the Z51 package, even though the Z06 was a year out. I don't see why the Z** coming out should prevent the 1LE from being released.
To your point, I dont know that plans to release a Zxx per se would prevent a 1LE package from being released. Just wondering how marketing strategy fits into the decision of which to release first. Whether or not one considers magazines and web sites as marketing tools is probably a different issue.

Just for direct reference my 2010 SS with Intake, LT headers, Pedders coilovers, tune, RacingBrake 2 pics rotors and HP pads I ran 1.26 at Sebring short course. My bone stock 2014 1LE ran 1:26 at the same course. That is pretty incredible. As many states it was a night and day difference if handling.

How did I miss those SEMA pics, nice car. And yes it probably is based on the 1LE. Game based the 1LE on a similar gen5 concept car. What were the specific details for this car?

The last 1le was $3500 package. wonder how much it will be now $4500.? And if true the Z cars won't be out till 2018-19. That's ok with me since they stopped making the ZL1 I have gotten several calls from dealers making offers on the car. I bet you can make money on the car at Barret-Jackson.

As long as it gives the GT350 a run for its money....I'm Good! Thats what this car should be, A mustang killer.(Even though a Mustang GT W/PP is already no match for a 16 SS Camaro.) And whatever comes next Zxx needs to stomp the guts out of the GT350R Which from what I hear will be a tall order!

According to the list its got:
Upgraded wheels (from convertible, one of the members got a black version off ebay already)
Upgraded aero (available aftermarket from GM)
Lowered suspension (available aftermarket from GM)
Increased power (available aftermarket from GM)
Unique Decals (no word on availability)

I hope its got a little more than that, hopefully some of the bracing from the convertible, and at least some minor suspension tweaks, otherwise its more of a "people want the option so lets see what will shut them up"

This is great news. I will say buyer beware though. Has anyone other than me noticed how quickly the 13-15 1LEs were put up for sale soon after purchase. Although these cars are a very small percentage of the overall Camaro build the For Sale section in this forum is dominated by them. I looked into a 15 very hard but after driving the car on the street I thought the ride was a very harsh, something that would quickly become an aggrevation. I suspect this is the reason so many quickly are put on the market.

Hopefully the 16 model will do a better job of balancing suspension performance without sacrificing normal driving as much as the 5th gen. Maybe a more adjustable mag ride will be offered.

The 3.91 gearing in a 1LE in terms of a big drag racing performance advantage was nullified by the differences in the transmission gearing between a 1LE and a standard SS. First gear in both cars has nearly identical final drive ratios (10.38 for an SS vs 10.40 for a 1LE). Second gear advantage goes to the SS (7.14 vs 6.95) while third and forth gear advantage went to the 1LE by just a touch. The big point is with the changes in the transmission, it is not like putting 3.91 gears in a standard SS. The purpose of the gearing in the 1LE was to make the final drive ratios for the 1LE closer so you could more easily keep the car in the power range when ripping through twisties or running on a road course. The stiffer suspension (so greatly reduced weight transfer) with the very stiff sidewall Goodyear tires makes it hard for me to believe the 1LE package is any advantage at a drag strip.

You may be right, I have never run the numbers on how many were actually used and for sale. I know when I sold mine there was maybe 2 others. GM made it VERY clear this car was for the 2%, and I think many people were unaware of what they were buying.

I think that says more of a person willing to spend $40K on something before they know what it is. People are all different though, I NEVER saw the ride as harsh and even lowered the car on springs and it was still VERY manageable. For the price, there really is no better performance car out there, but everything comes at a price.

All these people begging for an auto 1LE and that think the ride is harsh, they are not part of the 2% that GM is targeting with this car.

I just did a count and there are 17 on the first two pages alone in our forum, a very high percentage. I think the key to the 16 is the adjustable ride of the mag suspension. Have the option of selecting from a track monster to a fairly comfortable street cruiser.

I think we can agree that has a lot to do with the release of the 2016, and all the options and weight improvement. I think we can also agree that the people most likely to buy a 1LE are the enthusiasts that are also part of this forum. I cannot prove this, but I have a feeling you will find more 1LE's for sale here than ANY other site such as auto trader.

I agree on the mag ride. IF they decide to include that as an option, which I am 50/50 on, it will make a huge difference. Again though, they are only marketing this car to the 2% that want a track focused Camaro and mag ride does not fit in that equation IMO. GM sold just as many 1LE's they intended to, if not more, and as the saying goes "if it ain't broke.......".
