Hello,

I noticed that everytime I am nearby the car with my keys in the pocket MyLink turns on the Bluetooth connection. In my case my phone then starts playing music.

Everytime I go out with my car keys and my phone in my pockets my phone starts playing music out of the phone speaker. This is really annoying...

Is there a way to let MyLink establish the Bluetooth on only as soon as I start the engine?

I opened and closed the door and now it's fine again. Bluetooth starts as soon as I open the door. When the car is locked, there is no bluetooth.

Interesting, my 2018 doesn't do this. I have to open the door to trigger any bluetooth activity, and even that may well be because I have an AAWireless unit that provides wireless Android Auto and wakes up with the USB port that it's connected to.

I know this is an old resolved thread, but that must have been bizarre & a bit startling! Normally, I would think this is a problem with the music app on your phone, but glad you figured it out. I had the opposite problem with one of my favorite music apps - it would start playing out of the phone's speaker when bluetooth disconnected after getting out of the car. I finally quit using that app & switched to another one. Problem solved.

It’s caused from the app not being closed right and running in the back ground and not the car. My phone will do that using music apps and being 100s of miles away from the car

I also use the AAWireless adapter.

On our family van it works like that:

- I unlock the doors and the USB ports are powered on
- By this, the Android Auto wireless connects
- Afterwards, my phone waits until there is a bluetooth connection to my car
- Then I open the door and start the engine
- Now the car's head unit will power up and there a bluetooth connection between my phone and my car is established

- With the bluetooth connection to my car Android Auto will show on the car's head unit


On my Camaro I noticed the following behaviour:

As soon as I unlock the doors, the USB ports are powered up for 30 seconds. In this time my phone tries to connect to the AAWireless device. During these 30 seconds, the bluetooth connection to the Camaro is also established.

If I open the door in the 30 seconds period, the connection works fine.

If I wait more than 30 seconds, I will lose the connection to AAWireless (as the USB ports are powered off) and the connection to the car will fully drop.


I guess I had a problem with the 30 seconds timer. Somehow the USB ports were still powered on and the head unit did not fall into a sleep mode. Therefore everytime I walked by the Camaro, the phone tried to establish a connection.
After opening and closing the driver door, everything was fine again. It just took me some days to find this out as I do not use the Camaro as my daily car...

This is a plausible theory. I tend to go and check the tiny red LEDs behind the interior door handles a few minutes (or hours) after shutting down the car; if they are illuminated, the car is still "alive" and needs an open door / close door "cycle" to shut down. That said, the last time it happened was probably back in 2018, before the last software update for my model year got installed.
