LT-1 Questions from former SS owner
Hey guys. I had a '16 2SS and recently bought a '23 LT-1. I love the V-8 and 6 MT with a droptop.
I do have some Q's: 1. Why did they change the shift pattern on the LT-1? Isn't this the same Tremac 6060? 2. The interior plastics feels thinner/cheaper than my 2SS. Can I use the leather SS kneepads in the LT1? I already have the Recaro seats. 3. '23 LT1 transmission requires both the clutch and the brake depressed to start the ignition. My '16 only needed the clutch. This is a safety hazard if stalled while moving (did this yesterday.) Is there a way to bypass the brake requirement? 4. Skip-shift for 1-2 shifts; is the little dongle-thing from Gen5 (or other source) still the solution? The intervention seems inconsistent; sometimes it blocks, sometimes it doesn't, so its gotta go. 5. No track mode option. My 2ss had MPP and MRC. The LT1 only has MPP. I assume nothing changes in the suspension between touring and sport if no MRC? The exhaust is definitely louder :-) in sport. 6. LT1 engine bay looks kinda empty without the extra cooling systems; guess there's not much to do about that. 7. Android Auto is now wireless. That is a nice touch from the '16. I still should probably charge in the car, is the console the best USB source to charge? Any other solutions or changes to improve the LT1 suggested? I know the 245's aren't enough rubber for the V-8. I leased the car for 2 years to make sure I still want it and will buy at the end if I do. This prevents an immediate tire change unless I find some 1LE's for a deal. Cheers for any advice or suggestions. Joel Last edited by JBinSD; 04-10-2023 at 03:28 PM. |

Or use MS Paint and rotate the image 180 degrees and resave the picture For all intent and purpose LT1's are V6 bodies with V8 engines under the hood.

the images have normal orientation on my phone and computer; they only flip when posted here.
As far as I understand it, there is no "V-6" body, they are all the alpha platform; it's just the front end that varies based on the trim level. |

LT1's are lighter weight, better for drag racing, but get heat soaked faster.

V6? Are you thinking of the 1LT trim level?

The easiest way to save 3k on a car is to do everything you are asking about that is different from your old ss. Why they even made the lt1 trim level is beyond me

haha, trust me, I'd know if I was missing a few cylinders. The LT-1 is a V-8, but the shifter (red, like the SS's) has Reverse up and right (instead of up and left like the SS's.) I have no idea why the shift pattern is different on the LT-1.
