NEWBIE - What have I let myself in for :-O :-)

So, I have brought my First Camaro :-) from an excellent UK Dealer.

What do I need to look out for with this Car?
Should I buy some extended warranty / insurance?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3323265.htm

Thank you !

Nice one --- not too many of those floating around the UK....I bet that turns heads in the high street!! A nice summers day, lunch in the pub garden, driving up in the Camaro..... beaut.

What the extended warranty cost? its not so much the drivetrain, they will be pretty much bulletproof, its all the other bits n pieces..

So 22,000 pounds = $35,000!!!! oooooouuuuchhh...
If i ever return to UK (been in Florida for 12 years) I'm taking my baby with me....

Ahhhh -- sod the warranty -- ENJOY!!!

Hey redleader....excellent forum handle BTW.....congrats on the new ride. Excellent color choice

Couple things....from the dealer's webpage, looks like you actually have a 2010 1LT V6. There were no 2009 Camaros. The 2010 Camaros were released in 2009 to their owners, but they were still considered 2010 model. I also noticed in your avatar you have "SS 1LT 3.6 V6 2009", you probably want to relabel that to "1LT 3.6 V6 2010"

Couple things to make sure your V6 lasts, make sure you change your oil between 3500-4000 miles, I wouldn't bet on that oil life monitoring system, many of us have been fooled by it with dire consequences. Just keep track of the miles and change the oil according to that interval. The powertrain warranty is pretty legit, so I wouldn't worry about that. I don't think an extended bumper to bumper warranty is needed for this car.

Have fun

Welcome to the club Redleader. Along with the previous advice, I would also look into changing both the transmission and differential fluids with a good synthetic just in case it has not been done yet. Rock chips over here take their toll on the paint fast, so I would look into getting a clear bra and some mudflaps/quarter flares. Just posted a review in the tire section because of the difference they made driving on roads over here. Most of all, enjoy!

Blade, the UK dates a vehicle for the year it is originally sold, which is why his says 2009.

I've had my 2LT for a year now with absolutely no issues. Changed the oil to fully synthetic at 6000 miles, and that's it. If you need any spares quickly, The David Boatwright Partnership in Essex (where it looks like your car may have been registered) can get most service items to you in a couple of days, and even panels etc. in about a week.(they also do crash repairs to US cars)
So really it's just about filling up with petrol, and posing big time. I get about 22 miles to the UK gallon by the way, and managed to get insured through Adrian Flux for £450/ year.
I would save the money on an extended warranty, and use it in the slim chance something does go wrong.

redleader, CONGRATS on the ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
