MPD1 hood with a rotofab CAI ?

Does anyone on here have the MPD1 hood with a rotofab CAI. I just the the CAI for Christmas and I tried to put it on, but it won't fit right. Me and my dad have shaved down the airbox alot and it still isn't fitting right. Is there anyone else with this same problem, if so how did you fix it Thanks

I had trouble closing my stock hood when I first installed my Roto-Fab. I found I had not seated the airbox into the bottom gromet properly. I almost had to bend the box a little bit (took a little muscle) but I got it in. Check to make sure yours is seated. There is another hole on the bottom of the box that seats into a stud.

Nope and I was really wondering if I should make a thread about this too. I have the Rotofab and a RK Sport hood.

you really have to make sure the box is seated on the hole just right. i used a little dishwashing liquid to make it slip on. Be sure to move the lines a little to the left as well and it will fit great with the standard hood. not sure about yours tho. hopefully you didnt shave it down for nothing.

In this pic you can see its hitting the stop you can screw them in to see if that is the problem.

Nah I tried adjusting those screws or w/e. They really don't do anything about lowering the right side, but you can adjust it so the left is lifted a bit so it's symmetrical with the right. Still you then end up with two problem sides as opposed to one. I also shaved my airbox, which helped a bit but the corner still sticks out. Now I'm used to it so it doesn't bother me as much lol.

Roto Fab was design to stick to the EOM hood. If you have an aftermarket with air dam going to the air intake box IMO you might never be able to fit it correctly. because of the whole hood design. Maybe the manufacturor can give you some answers here.

I own a Nickey Stinger Hood which has an air dam with an opening going at the air filter. It brings fresh air directly to the air filter. So since I had a CEL problem with the K&N 6300 CAI (before I installed the Stinger), I reinstalled my G5CR which is an open air filter type. A lot of people don't seem to like G5CR because of the hot air in the engine bay, but with the Stinger I don't have any issues, and I like the looks.

You might have to consider changing you CAI. Check with the manufacturor before....

take a picture of the engine bay directly over the intake looking down at a couple different angles. We can tell you if anything seems to be wrong-

We finally got it to fit, but we had to take a saw and grinder to it, but it is fitting good now, I will take some pictures of it tomorrow sometime.

I would think you would be able to make this work out OK. I would think that you would have to take maybe a 1/2" off of the top of the heat shield. If you want give me a call on Monday and i can give you some tips on checking your clearances.

You know that the "Z Force" was designed in conjunction with the CAI inc for an exact fit and hood to airbox seal. Others can work, they just might take some modificatios to do so.
