I think I hit full throttle once. The PDR video briefly flashes 70mph as I’m approaching the little slalom on the dirty run. I think there was a little wheel spin contributing to that. The car puts down power really well. Hard to do any kind of tuning on tiny courses like this, I’ll probably tweak on it more once I get it out to a big lot.

My zle should be here next week, plan on ordering a set of apex sm10’s with the 18/11 and 12 wheels. What are the current cam guys running for tires? 315 square Yokohama or falkens? I’ve read some good things on these vs 315/335 rivals, I ran the rivals once on my 370 and had delamination so I’m hesitant on this car. I’ve ready some decent reviews of a nankang but until i see people running them at nationals I’ll hold off.. thoughts from current autocross guys using these?

I am currently running 295/30/18 Yokohama A052 on 18x10.5 wheels square and like them a lot because they put the power down well and are very consistent. I plan to upgrade to 315/30/18 Yokohama A052 on 18x12 square in two months when my new wheels come in. I had 305/30/19 Rival 1.5S previously, and did not like them as they required a lot of heat to work, didn’t put power down that well, and were scary in the wet.

Good to know, I’ll probably stick with 315’s square Yokohama’s , just gotta do some research and see if 11.5” front will fit without any big issues. Thanks for the info,

My 2nd weekend on the Falken RT660's and another PAX win. This time also taking FTD. All stock SS1LE with alignment, 275/30R19 Fronts, 305/30R19 rears. The course is hard to look at due to a literal sea of cones, but it rewarded bravery and threading a needle that was hard to see through all the visuals of the course.

That track looked tight with those 2 180's in it. But the front end grip of your car looked Incredible! That thing didn't push anywhere it seemed. Also I think the mph of your recorder is a tad off. 78mph in 2nd gear?

Wow, talk about sea of cones.

What was the temperature? I think we've discovered locally that the RT660 can't hold a candle to the A052 when it's wet and 45deg. It also seemed to be off the pace of older RE71Rs, I suspect the optimal temperature range of the RT660 is just a bit higher than the old 'stones.

When you DNF while walking the course... :P

Temps in the 60's. Yoks would still definitely be better I think, but I'm sticking to 19's until I feel like BS is a waste of time. I switched directly from RE71 to RT660, and for this car I believe the Falkens are faster. Still have to try the Nankang at some point.

Car goes 79 in 2nd gear, so it's accurate. Minus @2MPH for the 19" tires, though.

Weird that they would gear the 6th gen 1LE higher than my 5th gen Z/28. I know my engine can rev a little higher, but I don't think I could go 78 in 2nd, even at 7000rpm. I never did the math though, but little peeks at the speedo here and there at the bigger Auto-X places I run at will see 72-74.

Here's a different view of COTA - behind the garages in paddock :P They are using the main lot for vaccination queues so they let us have a different lot. Slow course and several safety related concerns but no drama in the end. Finished 6th in PAX out of 125 - not bad for a big car. Falkens are still doing awesome.

Look up Houston SCCA. Here's a link to their solo program FB page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/380868205403640

Yes, you can try the Houston SCCA which hosts events monthly at either Gulf Greyhound Park or Grandsport Speedway. They get 15-20 novices per event, so very rookie friendly. Registration is found by searching for “Houston” on the event calendar https://www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/

There is also the BMW/Porsche Events, which occur every month and held at Grandsport Speedway. They only allow up to 5 novices to register since they don’t have that many instructors on hand to help out. I like going to these events because there are only 40-50 entries and we get a minimum of 7 runs and the course designs are a lot faster than the SCCA courses. Registration can be found here https://lsrpca.com/autocross/
