Done it, not fun, but not impossible either. Just got to get the car high enough

Helps to have a buddy with long skinny arms to reach those upper bolts on the housing and couple extensions and swibbles. Hardest part for me was getting the started bellhousing ear around my longtubes, it kept getting hung up on it

Ahhhhhh......love the frustration of being on your back and blindly getting bolts started! How bad was the trans fluid leakage when you disconnected the lines???

I did an RXT on my last camaro on jackstands... i was solo so I got a transmission jack and like 4 feet of extensions for the upper bellhousing bolts. I didnt have much fluid leakage that I remember. Blower makes it harder, but not impossible.

Good luck!

Ahhhh.....having a flashback to my high school years. Yes, it can be done. Yes, it builds character. Enjoy Doing it on a lift with a trans joack (my current scenario) makes it MUCCCHHH easier. But still....

I just (last summer) changed the transmisison in my 4x4 Trailbazer. Since it wouldnt clear the rafters on the lift....did it on the driveway. On jackstands......fun fun fun!

I just got a quote for 500 labor ...... Its on stands now with the intake off, no exhaust or driveshaft on. Just put the motor back in the car and think I blew the slave trying to bleed it, got the lovely gush out of the bell housing. That or my remote bleeder somehow came loose. Might just have to pull the trans and replace it myself. Don't know how high I need the car, but I just need it disconnected far enough to replace the slave.
