Another All Season SS 1LE Tire Post (With Specific Options)
I may be close to getting an SS 1LE and I've looked at the wheel / tire options. I have come up with two options and I would like your opinions on each one. I live in the Atlanta area so I can't use the Supercar 3s all year so I need to make a decision. I have 3 options:
1) Take off the Supercar 3s and replace with Nitto Motivo 275/30/20 on the front and 295/30/20 on the back. This seems to be the closest that I can come up with in all seasons. I could probably sell the Supercar 3s. 2) Purchase another set of wheels in 19 inch and run a square setup of 285/35/19. There are a number of all seasons in this size. If I do this, I would like to get wheel recommendations. 3) A better idea from one of you. I can't blame you if you flame me and indicate I should have done a search but I have read many posts on this topic and I am somewhat torn between these two options. I know that with option "2" I need to get TPMS sensors and a reset tool. |

I live in the Atlanta area too and had to do the same. I bought 2nd set of wheels, 19”, and went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (great tire), 285/35R19 all around. Except I kept same wheel widths, 10” front, 11” rear (personal preference) but you could do 19x10 on all 4 corners. Hope this helps.

I had nitto motivos before in 315 option or 305 on a 5th gen ss and it was a horrible tire. It was awful in the rain here in Florida, it always felt like I was going to lose control it was so bad I replaced them with more than 70% thread and didn't even bother asking them to give it back.
It really was that bad, I'm not joking. I really was scared to drive in the rain. |

I have the BFGoodrich Comp 2 A/S in 285/35 20-Front and 305/35 20-Rear. They are an awesome tire that costs a fraction of what any other all season tire costs. Just google reviews, don't take my word for it. I've had these tires on Charlotte Motor Speedway during a track night and was able to run almost identical laps than with a Goodyear Supercar 3. They don't grease up on the track and have grip for days in the rain.
You will have to relocate the wire harness in the driver side rear wheel well, the tire will rub the liner and the harness if its not moved. I removed a piece of the liner that was rubbing, so just cut out a 4 inch rectangle piece of liner and kept it moving. The tires don't rub anywhere else. As far as alignment is concerned, you can run -2.0 camber, but will rub the inside tread on the strut spring retainer when doing full wheel lock or heavy compression of the strut. Makes a nice groove in your tread The groove is about 3mm deep. All electronics work as intended with no issues with traction control. The tire size fills up the wheel well nicely and I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Hope this helps! |

I ran the BFG Comp2 A/S on my 15 GT/PP and still have those in the garage and planning on just buying wheels and having those mounted so I can swap them in the driveway seasonally. Im just not sure what offset exactly to shop for as I have those BFGs in staggered 245/40 and 275/40 sizes.
I was really happy with those tires were excellent in the cold, dry, and as long as it was a dusting of snow or only slushy I could deal with it. I did not and would not drive those tires in the snow, just decided not to try it. |

Best thing about the camaro is that handling ability is mostly in the chassis. Thing will handle great on the street even with crappy tires. If you get a lot of rain, I'd go heavy on the wet performance.
Disclaimer - never drove a camaro on poor dry traction tires, but I have driven an alpha chassis cadillac cts with mag ride on crappy all-seasons. Still was a beast in the dry. |

Purchase another set of wheels in 19 inch and run a square setup of 285/35/19.
Pilot Sport 4S = good choice for daily driver, as long as driving in snow, sub 40's is not a concern.

Supercar 3's are a nightmare in the rain, I was driving to an HPDE from Charlotte to Roebling Road and hit some heavy rain, had to drive 40 mph just to keep the ass end from coming around. I only use them for track days now, until their gone, then to Toyo R888R's!

Option 2: Keep the stock wheels and tires and enjoy the car as-intended for your very long summer, then buy a set of MRR M716's in 19x10 et23 for all 4 corners and run whatever 285/35-19 all-season you want for your very short winter.

OP didn't mention that. In any case, I wouldn't be switching to an all-season just because of some rain. ATL's winters aren't cool for very long, and statistically never below freezing. I'd run all-seasons in winter there, and summers the other 9 months.

Then just go with Michelins in the stock sizes.
OP was asking about all season tires, like when driving in the cold, that's where the problem comes in as no one makes an all season 305.

Yes, BFGoodrich does, its just a 305/35 20, and its one the best all seasons on the market.
