if I am jacking the whole car up I start at the rear under the diff and jack the whole rear end up, place the jack stands on the ZL1 Addons pads (I leave my pads on all the time). Then I slowly jack each side up and put a stand under the front ones as well.

Works every time for me, as long as you take it slow while you are jacking the car up.

I get what you're describing but why? You have to operate your jack three times vice two if you lift one side, place jack stands, then lift the other side, place jack stands. Just curious.

Because the front lift point it located way forward, that puts alot of strain on the body to lift it from there. Might be different if it was directly in the middle of the side of the car but its not.

By lifting the rear up by the diff I am spreading the load across the back of the car, then lift each side of the front up and I am only putting 1/4 to 1/3 of the cars weight on that side of the lift point while jacking the car up.

Used 2x12's as a poor man's race ramp. Stacked 2-3 high and stagger them with a bevel cut on each one. Works well.

Is there a downside to changing the oil on ramps? I have not done my own on the SS yet...

Only if you are too short to be able to pour the fresh oil in the engine while up on the ramps.

With the zl1 addons mag pad and lift points. Along with flat top jack stands. It's way easier to jack the car up on all 4's then it is to drive up on the ramps IMOP. Wish I never bought the ramps.

I switched from heavy ramps I built by bolting together a stack of beveled 2x12s to one-piece 56" Race Ramps more than 10 years ago. I've never had a problem with the Race Ramps, and I love the fact that I can just hang them on the wall out of the way when I'm done using them. The front splitter on a 1LE clears the ramps by about 2", and the 8" lift is high enough for an oil change.

When I need all four corners of the car in the air, I use a low-profile jack with a polyurethane pad and V-shaped or flat-top jack stands with polyurethane pads. There used to be a company called Protech Products that had a wide selection of pads and jacking accessories, but their website has been "down for maintenance" for awhile. I'll have to take a look at the ZL1 Addons products.

I use Race Ramps for oil changes. Low risk and easy drive on.

I bought race ramps, but really dont need them for oil changes. They are super expensive and I used them once. I installed ZL1 Addons jack pads and use a low profile jack. I jack the car (and use a jack stand for safety) on the side opposite the drain plug (jack on driver side).
