$90 Factory Paint Protection by 3M

On the build and price configurator for 2018, there is a $90 option for "Vehicle Protection (Paint Protective)" on the Accessories tab. The information link just says it's 3M brand film and protects the most vulnerable areas of the vehicle, but doesn't specify the areas. Says to contact dealer for more information.

$90 seems inexpensive enough, but does anyone know what areas are covered?

no,but it sounds like a good deal if its applied at the factory.i would think front bumper, edge of hood and in front of rear tires would be affected.

I'd guess its the lower rear panels right in front of the rear tires. My SS came with PPF in that area.

Did you get the $90 option, or is some amount of PPF installed for free?

I had it on my car and one area was the top rear bumper where things might drag across the paint. Unfortunately mine had wrinkles in it where it just wasn’t applied well. The door handle cups, lower body in front of rear wheels and door edges were fine. I removed the rear bumper piece and dealer said they’d redo it but i said don’t worry on it as I’m the only one going in and out of the trunk and it was a non issue.

There is a simular option on the Vette. My dealer said all they do is include pre cut pieces for the dealer to install. My guy said I was stupid if I bought it as he said go somewhere that does it all the time. Then first thing is ask them how many the guy doing your car has done before. You want the best for a great finish.

Mine too but it doesn't cover enough...still have to put painter's tape all over that area for any motorsports. I am gonna have the whole section done this spring.
