I liked the idea of this one because it's "factory" (LPO/dealer-installed) + the filter is blue... I had a K&N w/ SLP Black Wing on my '02 Sunset Orange WS6. They likely perform very similarly, so it's just a matter of preference. Chevy Performance Air Intake has a dry filter.

I purchased a dealer configured showroom car so it was part of the factory/dealer installed package. It looks nice and I can't speak for performance gains/losses as it was on when I picked it up. It looks nice and makes its presence known at almost any throttle opening for better or worse. I've been tempted to install the stock configuration except the ECM has been programmed for it so it stays.

I negotiated mine into the purchase price since I bought off the lot. Like that it's GM and under warranty. Love the sound although I don't know what it sounded like with the stock intake box.

I have been debating about buying one of the intakes but just do not know if it is worth the money.

I feel like it is worth it. The sound difference is noticeable especially if you are used to the sound of the stock box. The engine also opens up and breaths better and it feels faster. I don't know that there is much RWHP gain but I know the engine is breathing better. I traded from a '17 SS to an '18 SS 1LE with the GM CAI and the first thing I thought when I started it up for the first time was "wow, the CAI makes that much of a difference in sound?". I was surprised.

Yea I know theres a lot of people who would say it's not worth it due to minimal hp gains but I agree with the post above.

The sound is noticable and deeper than stock. With the windows down the induction noise sounds really cool too. Most cai's dont gain much hp stock anyways and atleast this one is warrantied and if you have future modding plans it's good to get a cai anyways.

After the gm tune throttle response felt better imo, and it definately felt different, less jerky.

CAI for my SS 1LE

Just curious, my dealer said $525 for the part and $591 installed. This seems very high to me. I found the same part at www.shopchevyparts for $393.75. Has anyone bought this then had the dealer do the tune?

If you order any LPO items, ensure that your dealership understands that you want the original pieces, as my salesman dropped the ball (after numerous reminders), but the PDI manager saved the day. He had everything saved & boxed!
Nice! Thanks for posting the photos! I've got a blue SS on order with the CAI (and the SCJ 1LE suspension!)--Seeing your photos, I wish I'd ordered (and may have to add later) the color-matched engine covers. Hopefully I won't have to argue to get my LPO factory air intake and the stock SS suspension boxed and in my truck.

My experience is no HP gain with this modification. Intake noise is different though.

I like hard data...

Dyno chart below showing 3 nearly identical 2018 1LE's (miles between 2500 and 6500)...1 completely stock, 1 with the GM CAI (and GM tune), and another with GM CAI (and GM tune) as well as a cat back exhaust...all within the dyno error tolerance except the exhaust car is down nearly 15 WTQ at peak.

By reading this data does that show the intake lowers horsepower slightly and increases torque slightly? I'm sorry I'm a noob at these. Also do you happen to have data showing the rotofab with either the same exact cars or similar ones? I ask because I hear so many people claim the rotofab is the top dog even without a tune.

I bought one from shopchevyparts this past Saturday and they gave me a 5% discount for creating a new account. There's another 5% discount for a New Year gift. Anyway, mine cost $396.xx shipped. So, the 5% pays the shipping. Their site says there's a coupon inside the part box to present to your dealership telling them to charge the tune flash to GM, so no cost to the car owner. Now, if I just had my CARRRRRR!

GM CAI

I had the GM CAI on my 2016 Camaro 2SS and I thought the car felt more powerful. I can tell you this...with the CAI, DiabloSport tune and drag radials, I improved my 1/4 mile times from 12.29 to 11.88 with no other changes. I was able to do 12.0x times without the drag radials, so the tune and CAI did something. These times were mostly run in very hot weather in Memphis, TN.

Drag radials. You changed 3 things and think that you can now say one of those contributed?
