As someone who doesn't "hate" the new design my only real gripe with this is the gloss black between the grills.... Like WTF?!?! It doesn't fit on the 1LE at all! (except on a gloss black body color one) I think that's a bit of a mistake having that one part painted gloss black.....

It still looks like a lot of refreshes do, when the designers can’t figure out how to make the original design “better” - so they just make it different so the marketing guys have something new to sell. Ugh.

it doesnt look bad in a total general sense, but when compared to the current SS 1LE, it looks terrible

I would have to have that middle section painted to match. I think that would make a major difference.
