Is it wrong to under badge?

In the world of cars I've noticed many people especially in the Mustang community like to put higher badges on their vehicles, you'll see a EcoBoost Mustang with a 5.0 badge on it. Well I did the exact opposite,i wonder how you feel about this as the camaro community? I had the great idea of putting RS badges in place of the SS Badges on my Camaro and i wonder if this is an ok act to do?

That's the general idea of a sleeper, isn't it?

I, for one, have no problem with debadging. And if your car IS an RS, it's perfectly acceptable to have badging that shows it. So replacing your badging with lesser badging is not an issue to me, unless it misleads entirely- like putting 3.6 badging on an SS or ZL1.

This. I have no idea why anyone would want to do such a thing, but I'd much rather see that than the other way around. I'm not a fan of badges period, less is more IMO. I'm still not 100% comfortable with the 1/LE badge I put on my trunk lid but I figured it was necessary to prevent people from asking me why my license plate says MISS1LE. So far it's worked, I love watching people in the cars behind me at stoplights read my plate and then point to the badge with that "ah ha!" look on their face.

I have a Supercharged 2SS/RS and I'm trying to find an "I4" badge for it. LOL. "VTEC" is too big and if I get one that says "HEMI", there are enough people confused in this world thinking it's a Charger.

And a lot of people in the Mustang community really do think their cars are faster than they truly are, so badging it 5.0 is acceptable because so many do it. But in the end, it's your car, badge it how you like. Some like to totally debadge, some like every badge made on it. For me "Camaro" on the side and "SS" on the trunk is plenty.

Matt, what you are wanting to do or are doing is in fact what people do to make their car a "sleeper"...... and in the hot rodding community is perfectly acceptable.

I think it sounds kind of dumb. It's like what a teenager would do, but in reverse. Be proud that you have an SS and leave it badged accordingly.

Also, if stock you're not THAT much faster than a full bolt on E85 RS V6 so it wouldn't make much sense. The only people you will impress would be the 3.6L V6 guys.

Now, if you had a custom twin turbo LSX build from Nelson Racing, then I can see the point. That way, as you lined up against a much faster car like a Shelby, Hellcat, GTR or AMG Benz, you'd smoke them silly leaving everyone bewildered.

Back in the day when I was in high school, the local weed dealer bought a new '73 Chevelle SS 454 and replaced the fender badges with 350. Surprised quite a few on the typical Saturday night stoplight-stoplight runs.

I think its pretty stupid, I see a ton of the local Mopar Bro's as we call them with fake badges on their cars. an R/T with SRT badge or even v6 SXT challengers with Hellcat Badging. Its honestly stupid, I got a ZL1 front grill for my SS and put an SS badge in place.

If you want to go SS to RS badge that would be fine IF your car is indeed an RS. Now if you want to put 1LS, 2LS, 1LT or 2LT on there that would be an issue.

Bottom line and I think most will agree, badge your car with what it truly is or debadge it completely. If your car is an SS RS and you want to display the RS badges go for it.

Sure. Whatever makes you happy. I was thinking about getting a $300k Porsche 911 GT2 RS and putting $50k Cayman badges on it. NOT!!!!

Once you get out of high school and get a life, badges are pretty far down the list of things to do that day.
