Here you can see where there was a gap from the OEM design since this is meant to fit on the 6th Gen deck lid. This had to be sanded down.

Funny how we used to scoff at people with civics with those wings on them and now those are in vogue for the late model Camaro, cuz chevy set the standard. Funny how that works...

That’s because rear spoilers actually serve an important function on a purpose built, rear wheel drive, track car. By default they look mostly good on the non track cars.

Spoilers can look fantastic when they go with the flow of car. It’s when they get gaudy they draw scoffs. The imports (and some domestics) always seem to go overboard and when the spoiler becomes the centerpiece of the car, it looks just awful to the point of ridiculous, if not downright funny.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "in vogue". Yes, the ZL1/1LE comes with this high spoiler and if you order a '19 ZR1 with the ZTK Package, it also comes equipped with the taller spoiler...but they serve a purpose. Both machines work as cohesive units with their respective aero technology. It is NOT merely aesthetics, a la Fast and Furious.

Oh I wasn't putting it down, I was making a statement. and you're right they do serve a purpose. I am planning on making a change to mine to get it track ready, because that puny spoiler they have on the current OEm style isnt worth crap.

Sorry man, I didn’t mean to imply you were putting it down. Just conversing about why we all might have been divided on spoilers.

You can rationalize it all you want, but over 95% of those ZL1/1LE's will never utilize the potential of that huge wing or those dumb dive planes. Most of them will be sitting under garage covers during the work week and then driven like old ladies on the weekends with an occasional acceleration burst here and there.

I don't think the 323 hp V6 will be able to achieve the acceleration speeds required to take full advantage of that spoiler, even on the track.

The 5th gen Z28 was essentially a street legal track car and it did not have a huge erector set rear wing on the back of it. Also, it didn't have those ugly dive planes attached to the front bumper either.

For the 2010... and maybe beyond that, I don't know... there was a high wing spoiler option.

This forum hated it.

Over 95% of all the V8’s will never use the potential of that huge power train or those dumbass mods, much less spoilers or splitters. LMAO.
