Hard to believe this still happens
Okay, less than 500 miles on my brand spanking new 2018 1LE, and both commonly known malfunctions have already occured. Clicking while turning, and just now as I drove down the road to my house the endlinks started banging.
It's not like these are sudden issues that only started happening recently. How rigid must the assembly line procedure be that they cannot have already addressed both issues? I've got the car up on rhino ramps now, with a bit of wooden ingenuity . Now I'll tighten the links and maybe add some blue loctite, then see if I can coax it down off the ramps without breaking the lip. Then I'll go order race ramps, I just hadn't gotten around to it yet because I didn't think I'd need to do endlinks a week after buying the car... |

It's hard to believe this has not been fixed yet.

At least this was an easy fix. Left endlink was loosening. Not so loose you could undo it with your finger, but probably around a quarter turn backed off. Tightened it up and no more clunk. Getting off the rhino ramps was fun. Combination of various wood and other things laying around the garage to try and keep the contraption from sliding when the car went onto it, but I got it figured out and my front lip is not cracked. I do not recommend rhino ramps for this car . |

You would be surprised. Porsche is definitely not defect free. Nonetheless, these quirks are annoying.

It depends on how you want to compare. GM and Toyota are both large car companies making around ten million cars a year. Porsche is tiny. GM makes about half as many Camaros every year as all models of Porsche combined.
In any case, the point stands. It's likely every 1LE will end up sooner or later at the dealer costing GM a couple hundred dollars to fix (assuming no damage and only labor to tighten the nuts). And an irritated customer to go with it. It's one of those things I'm surprised they let slide all the way into the next model year. |

I was making a joke about GM making actual cars people want to drive, versus Toyota making appliances to merely get droids from home to Starbucks. |
