Imagine this, skip 2nd and go to third. Sounds like it’s happening when you’re putting around. Why aren’t u skipping gears when not beating on it?
1-3-5 from a start

2-4-6 from a roll

Automatics are just starting to get this technology

2016 m6

Resurrecting an old thread here Was the issue with your car resolved? Does anyone know if this was a common problem with 2016 m6? Any other issues that arose with the 2016 model?
Thank you in advance.

I'm late but I also noticed this. Has happened to me a handful of times. I thought/still think it is because I try to avoid the skip shift by getting my RPMs a little higher before shifting to second. After it happened several times I started to double check to make sure it is fully locked into 2nd.

I had the issue with my Gen 5 LS3 M6 and my dad had the same issue with his 2008 Corvette. I think my dad had the Grand Touring model or something with a similar LS3 and manual transmission. I mostly shifted 1 - 3rd, so I did not notice it that much, but it would happen randomly. Never could figure out a pattern.

My dad said it was a know issue with the Corvette and the dealer fixed it on his car. He actually told me about it when I bought my Gen 5 and said to look out for the issue.

Tranny quirk with the TR6060 (maybe other Tremecs as well). Happened a few times at very low speeds. I believe there is a video about it and the fix involved replacing the 2nd gear syncro. I'm pretty sure this is the same issue. It should be a rare occurrence. If it's happening too often or at higher speeds, get it checked out. Otherwise, it's just a very minor annoyance that can be worked around.

I'll try to find the video.

Found it:

Had this happen every once in a while in my 2017. It's happened a few times in the 2018 as well. Always when temperatures are cold, always on the first or second 1-2 shift of the day after sitting overnight. I think it is just part and parcel for this transmission.

And no, it isn't the CAGS. Mine is tuned out.

I would be willing to bet that if your cags was still active it would’ve avoided this condition..

I have it prior to the car warming up. It also seems more prone on low rpm shifts. Just learned to stay out of 2nd prior to warming up or shift slower and make sure I feel both little pops prior to releasing the clutch. Really don't even think about it much anymore. I have the skip shift removed as well.

I joined the "it just happened to me" club yesterday morning on my first shift about 250 ft from the house. Going forward I'm going to try to remember hold first gear a little longer and be more deliberate with that shift until the tranny warms up a little.

Interesting this thread was bumped. I've grinded 2nd gear a few times and always just thought I was lazy on my shift, but perhaps I am having this same problem.

I also had trouble recently shifting 1-2 at the drag strip at redline with NLS, so now I am wondering if this is related.
