What is the difference between:

Track mode and clicking TC button once for traction control off(Stabilitrak on).

and

Track mode and clicking the TC button twice for competition mode, which gives you traction control off(Stabilitrak on).

Two presses in Track mode gives you access to the PTM modes. You will get a sub-menu that allows you to choose from Wet through Race.

To further clarify, pressing twice in track mode does NOT give you competition mode. It gives you PTM as matthew said, which definitely has traction control on. Pressing once in track mode will give you competition mode with traction control off and stabilitrak still on, it just doesnt say competition mode like it does for sport mode.

I have a question,

I ran a couple track days with my 1LE and I liked the nannies totally off, track mode and the steering in tour with the lightest feel.

I now have a new ZL1

In PTM sport 2 are you locked into track mode steering ( heavy ) ?

Thanks D

No, set steering manually to tour... it won’t change, period... reguardless of PTM/stability control setting.

Sorry for bring this fantastic thread back to the top. Keep in mind I am coming from a 2002 M3. Turn everything off and go track the car. No nannies except the paltry 360hp or so I had with the mods.

So I want to make sure I understand this. Lets say I am at Road America heading down the straight into turn 5 at 150 (figure a ZL1 should hit that easily) in Race - sport 1. I hit the brakes, turn in, hit the apex, start track out. I can now hammer it to the floor and the computer will dole out the power keeping the car composed as I head up the hill to turn 6? No abrupt spin into the inside wall?

Race - Sport 2 and Race - Race less so?

It is not magic.

But, the answer to your questions are:

Maybe.
Maybe.

They say there are no dumb questions.
This may challenge that premise.

Is there any benefit or down side to using PTM "wet" or "dry" on the street?

In my link above the GM engineer describes how he uses the different ptm modes. This could be of help to ya.
Personally i dont see any downsides to using ptm settings for dd. Albeit i dont bother.

I've read that several times, but my comprehension isn't always the best, that's why I was asking.

Seemed like the "wet" and "dry" PTM modes would be optimal for street driving versus the standard Tour and Sport modes.
