It is a really fun track, although it is more suited for smaller lighter cars like miata's or older Camaros.

They do open track days there as well once in a while and it's very cheap (if you don't factor in tire wear).

With your work schedule, you should take a look at open track days at NOLA MSP. They tend to fall on the Friday before NASA events so that may not help you out much, but they are not usually too crowded. Just plan on being in the beginner group of whatever you do. I had a friend sign up for the intermediate group because he thought his car was going to be faster than a lot of the other cars out there, and he was quickly moved to beginner.
Great info, thank you.

If you get out to Nola I'm sure you will see me and some of the other guys out there. I haven't made the last few NASA events, but I am planning to be back out there in the spring.

Congrats on the gf. Unfortunately they can really eat into the track budget. If you find the right one it's worth it though.

As long as scale back doesn't mean stop altogether it's all good. If we don't see you at all we may have to have the police do a welfare check on you.

There are an abundance of smart@$$ remarks regarding girlfriends can be replaced, etc. Congratulations seem far more appropriate.

There are other alternatives such as meet, cruise and lunch. Even with the GF tax, these types of events are much cheaper than a 2 day track event.

Very nice. I want to see the 69 Z/28. Do you do any car shows in the area?

I am just starting to resurface after my back surgery. Two months into recovery and I am not close to finished. All is good, just a slower time recovering. Watch out for being knocked out, though. My better half took that time and went out and bought the MB AMG.

It is likely that my next track time will be the AMG Driving Experience at COTA in December. We get to drive their cars and I am hoping for a stint in an AMG GT (the MB dealership gets it that I am a car guy and they are willing to put in a good word for me).

Ambush and detltu, we need to look at a lunch gathering in Baton Rouge. My weekends are fairly open and Baton Rouge is in my cruising range (NOLA is a stretch right now).

Sounds good. Right now my weekends are filled with my sons track meets. Most of them are in Hammond though so Baton Rouge is just a short jump from there.

Anyone doing the SCCA Track Night in America out at NOLA Motorsports? I did my first one March 21 and am hitting up the one this Thursday, April 11.

If you are on Facebook, consider asking to join (closed group) NMSP Track Rats. Some good people and information can be had from that group.

NASA (David Shall is chief instructor - I think) is very active and so it the PCA (Felix Bircher is the contact).

I recently (last week or so) found and joined that group. I have to look into the PCA and also NASA.

Had a blast at NOLA Motorsports today. Some real nice people out there.
