Anyone Installed This ?
I don't have my car yet but with all I can see , it doesn't have remote start . Found this on Ebay and looks pretty simple . I like that it uses factory remote .https://www.ebay.com/itm/Remote-Star...53.m1438.l2649
Update on my car , I just received an email from Carfax Carcare that my car was just serviced , had GPS and nav installed and battery replaced at the dealership . |

I was just looking at these. I'm not sure if this model does this or not but I would ask. Apparently when you remote start the Key Fob is put to sleep forcing you to open the door with your key. Secondly, the remote start will only work as far as your remote works but you can purchase an RF extender that allows for remote start for up to a mile away. This is helpful as you can be in your house or workplace and start the car before you even step outside. Just some things to think about and check first. I'm curious about this as well.

I have a 2010 and my key fob still works after using the remote start. Once you get in the car you must put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position for the gauges and other electronics to work.

Same, my 2013 has what I can only assume is factory installed remote start. Key FOB works perfect after it's been started, and just like with my Impala, I just have to unlock the doors (with the key fob) and put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position as if I were starting it, and off I go!

Key fob is not put to sleep, if that is the case, the car just ignores the signals when
sent, forcing you to use the key. The FOB cannot be put "to sleep." |

All 5th Gen 2SS A6 cars came with remote start from the factory.
Unless its an M6 they didn't get it for lawyer/ safety reasons.

OP is not talking about the factory remote start in which the key fob does not sleep. He is looking at an aftermarket option. I emailed the seller of said device and he stated that indeed the ACTUAL key will have to be used to open the door since the key fob WILL go to sleep using the aftermarket device. He stated there is no workaround for this at this time.

Also, when remote start the first is two taps honks the horn and the lights flash and then one tap starts the car. This is handy if someone is having a difficult time locating their car in a crowded parking lot. Tap the FOb to unlock the trunk and tap again to unlock the doors. |

Well, I'm only going by what is on this thread. This thread asks the question about the aftermarket unit only for a car he does not have yet so that is what I addressed obviously. I didn't look into any other threads he may have written which is my usual procedure when trying to help out. Just to address the question in the current thread. Here he states he does not have the car yet and is looking at the linked aftermarket remote start. I merely helped him with his thought about the unit as opposed to reading another thread that mentions he has a 2014 Auto. If he had mentioned that in this thread then the case would be mute and I would have told him his car probably has a remote start already. So I would assume this thread is probably over at this point.

It's cool. Everyone's here to help. I've learned so much with my car from this site I like to give back as often as I can.
