Cool ZL1 steering wheel on a SS?

Has any one installed a ZL1 steering wheel on a SS?
I want to also have all controls on steering wheel to work, no paddle shifters?
Does anyone know if it will fit, plug and play?

If you are a manual, grab a manual wheel, if you are an auto, grab an auto wheel.

They are an easy swap. 2 quick release pins + disconnecting the airbag, and then a T50 bolt is all that holds the wheel on.

I put an SS 1LE wheel on my v6 when I owned it. The ZL1 wheel would be the same thing.

*edit* this is the link I used when I did the swap: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317592

Yep..it fits...easy swap. I bought a separate SS emblem and replaced the ZL1 portion. I went Suede. Only thing in swap is be real careful of the steering clock spring. Do not remove or change it in any way or you will get codes. It was a bitch to fix. Also remove positive cable before you do swap so you wont have airbag issues.

I have a 2014 ZL1 automatic w/paddle steering wheel on my 2010 SS. I intentionally bought the leather one as I didn't want to deal with wear/cleaning the suede one.

It feels awesome in hand and is much better ergonomically than the original SS wheel I had. The paddles are also MUCH better as they are actual paddles instead of the buttons the 2010 has. I also love the flat bottom. All steering wheel buttons work perfect.

I bought a brand new OEM clock spring for the swap in case I broke anything, but didn't need it. You just have to be very careful and try not to turn the wheel at all during the swap.

Where did you find it? I have had the ZL1 badge on the bottom of mine since the swap and I really would like to get the SS badge so I don't feel like a poser lol. I do NOT want to swap to the SS trim on the wheel. I think the ZL1 wheel looks awesome.

Not sure you want to replace the ZL1 emblem on your wheel to SS but in case you do I got it from Gen5. I think it was a little pricey but cant remember. I still have the ZL1 trim for the wheel too.
Heres a before and after

Yea, I only want to replace the emblem. I like the look of the ZL1 trim better than the SS.

So GEN5DIY? Thank you!

How did you black out the Chevy emblem? Is the stitching in your suede dash inserts red?

You guys realize the SS 1LE wheel is the same but with white stitching, right?

The stitching on the zl1 suede steering wheel is red. My current dash inserts are also zl1 suede as well as the shifter. Also before I switched to a Red leather interior my original SS black seats had white stitching that I switched to red by use of a fabric marker. Came out perfect and you couldn't tell it used to be white. Now all stitching in my interior is red. As the person above mentioned Gen5 sells a regular leather SS with white stitching which I didn't need. I only purchased the SS wheel emblem from them since I went with red stitching.

Think I’ll stick with the nice CAMARO wheel in my 2010, before they switched to these generic looking Chevy steering wheels.

I have the original version steering wheel in my 2010 SS and I too prefer the appearance of this steering wheel. However, I do find the shape of the grip is a little strange. The wheel rim isn’t entirely round. I recall one reviewer years ago talking about how it seems better suited to LEGO hands. Others ever notice this?

For sure! I like the Camaro wheel a lot better than the later wheel.
