I have read how thin the paint is on Camaro5 and Camaro6, but this takes the cake!

Fortunately the white base under Hyper Blue didn't chip.

I immediately went to dealer for touch up and asked for edge guard like I had on my 2013. Dealer said no such animal.

While sun was setting I applied the 1st coat by taping off around the chip & got 98%. The bottom piece of tape was too high so sliver of white shows. No worries the next two coats will take care of that.

Here's a pic of chip.

Well as of today I gotcha beat.

Opened by door wide into the stucco side of the house. Nothing massive and I'll touch it up. It was waiting to happen. Our driveway is a bit narrow and my belly is not so much anymore . Opened the door too wide.

Does not bother me a bit. These things happen.

I am curious if the touch up paint can be applied with an airbrush or if a small fine detail brush will do. I have about three little dings similar to yours.

This is pretty common, the Mazda 3 I used to drive chipped for anything, the Camaro is actually a lot better than it was.

I got literally the same size chip in the same spot on my last 5th gen from very gently placing the door up against the sheet rock wall in my garage while I got out. I'm guessing it was the slight motion from me getting out that caused it. Let's just say I never did that again.

Chips or no chips. Your car will be worth no more or less. I enjoy the chips, it gives it character and proves you drive instead of being a lawn or garage piece

The paint is atrocious. The most disappointing thing about these cars. I'm just happy my car came with an edge guard from the dealer.

Do you by chance remember what they charged for the door edge guard? There is a 2018 I am looking at that has them installed as dealer add ons, but they are charging $299 for the door edge guards and another $299 for 3M door cup/key guards (whatever the heck those are); plus the usual mark up crap - nitrogen filled tires, interior fabric protection, exterior paint protection(initial application). All totaled they want and addional $1498 in add-ons.

It wasn't even on the sticker. My car was part of a dealer swap, the guards came with the car.
