Action required:Shift to park

Car is in park but I’m getting the “action required: shift to park” It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does i turn on and off the car while moving from drive to park over and over again till it goes away. I have seen the post that says it could have something to do with a low key fob battery so I replaced it but it still happens. Any help would be great.

There seems to be a known problem with switches inside the shifter. The usual fix is to replace the entire shifter assembly. When I had the same message the dealer had 5 Camaros waiting on the assembly and they had no ETA. That was a while ago and well before the strike, so no idea what the supply is like now.

I did some digging and some people clear it up with a shot of WD-40 to the micro switch inside the assembly, others just jiggle it until it goes away.

In my case the message was a symptom of another problem, so I didn't need to have it replaced.

Happened to me... changed the assembly. It’s not your fob.

Bringing back from the dead. Would the shifter replacement be covered under the powertrain warranty?

The exact same behavior the OP is describing, is happening on our 2019 Traverse. When it starting a couple months ago, it didn't happen very often. Now it happens every time the car is turned off. We're taking in it.

Ditto...replaced shifter assembly. My car was already past warranty, so out of pocket.

Mine is in Chevy dealer now. Told assembly replace and not covered.
I'm still just under 60k so I'm going to Customer Care.

Anyone have this covered?

Actually i'm not sure our Traverse shifter problem is related https://gm-techlink.com/?p=12155

We were under warranty on our Traverse. This seems to happen to a lot of gm vehicles. We had to go back twice. The first fixed sort of worked (it was a wiring harness jumper... it think). We took it back again and they replaced the whole shifter.....
