The C5 and C6 cars were more performance focused. The C7 car added a drop top version, targa version and lots of creature comforts. |

Agreed. Also know a lot of C7Z owners, and a couple who attempted to track them...both were overheating. One sold his and bought an ACR, the other modded his with every cooling solution on the market, even swapped the blower for a ProCharger setup. That was the only way he could keep it cool enough on track days.

The z06 is a neck of a track and has posted many amazing times and different tracks that have flown under the radar because of that overheating bad rap. Times 2020 gt500s and zl1 1le's won't be sniffing anytime soon.

The blackwing won't fit in alpha2 according to gm. So the C8's version (5.5L) certainly won't fit in the Camaro either.
There was a post here about how Mary Barra killed Z/28 development with the LT3 400 HO. It looks real bleak for the Camaro now. 2023 isn't too far off but far enough for things to shrivel up and die sales wise if new blood isn't injected (LT5). https://www.thedrive.com/news/28853/...-weapon-report |

Either way - a new Mustang is good for Camaro. If the segment remains strong, it will continue to hold a business case to make a competitor and keep cross sharing platforms with Cadillac and maybe another vehicle. To be honest, I already know I won't be buying anything past the current gens. Forced hybridization isn't really something I want in my garage - maybe on a daily unit, but certainly not a first iteration of any Ford, GM, or Dodge product.

Guys, Ford is no time soon going to kill the Mustang - there will be a S650, believe it or not, official announcement or not.
As for Chevy and a Camaro Z/28... Honestly, I think it is very difficult to say what will happen. It could and it couldn't... But I have serious doubts that they will use the 5.5L DOHC FPC in the C8.R (and most likely the next C8 hi-po offering). Why? Well, the engineering, development and testing for a FPC is difficult and very application-specific. Think about this: you cannot take the LT2 and simply plop it into the Camaro, even though the LT2 is basically a slightly upgraded LT1, which is in the Camaro. The block is different in that it was adapted and integrated for a 1. dry-sump oiling system and 2. the C8 mid-engine architecture/mounting. I have to believe these two facts would create a serious issue in translating the FPC engine into another platform. The most realistic options for a V8 engine upgrade in the Camaro are: 1. The LT5 going into some ZL1-ish variant. 2. LT1 with LT2 modifications added to it (I think there is a small possibility the intake manifold will fit under the Camaro hood). 3. Some other LT1-based engine that will be shared (at least roughly) with something else (maybe a truck). Could Chevy surprise us with a "Z/28" that has a DOHC FPC V8? Sure, and I hope they do, but I don't see them investing into Camaro like that at this point. They'd more than likely use that same investment towards an electric Camaro. |

You’d be better off with their 427 than the LT5.

ZL1 and ZL1 1LE with an LT5 would be a neat, easy upgrade before the 6th Gen goes. That would definitely close the gap to the GT500... Soo much so that I think the Camaro would either win or at least match every performance metric besides to the GT500. The GT500 will still be the more "liveable" car and the sweetest transmission.
