Ranger Clutch Line Flush Method

Does anyone know for certain if the Ranger flush method flushes all the way to the slave or only to the master?

I don't recall the Ranger flush method - wasn't that to just pull fluid from the reservoir and refill with fresh, and repeat until you stop seeing contamination?

If so, I think you get a limited amount of flush on the system as a whole. Definitely better than nothing, but I think using a remote bleeder is the way to go, because you draw off fluid at the "end of the line" while continuously adding fresh fluid from the other end, so you can get a more complete flush.

Yes that is the method I was referring to. Your assessment supports everything I’ve read about this inability of this method to flush/clean much fluid from the system beyond the master.

If it wasn’t so dam difficult to get to the bleeder I would add a remote bleeder which I will do when the time comes that I have to because of pedal problems or to replace the clutch. Until then I’ll continue to use the Ranger method via my remote reservoir even if only cleans a portion of the system’s fluid which I guess is better than never introducing any clean fluid into the system.

I do this on my C6Z. Unfortunately it's not full proof. My master and slave took a dump @ 38k miles (bought it with 28k miles). It helps alleviate any future issues, but as I mentioned not full proof. Luckily for me, I ended up getting my money back from GM since they had a TSB after the fact.

What acammer said... install a remote bleeder.Helps a lot, and it'll make sure the whole system is "clean"

I'm wondering if this improved version would work on our Gen 5s.

Note: Maybe one of you tech savvy guys can download the link.

I guess if there's no remote bleeder, this is a good option.

better off jacking the front end up, crawling under there and letting the bled fluid run down your armpit. Remote bleeder is well worth it if you are pulling the trans.

Is it possible to install the remote bleed with trans in the car? I have one sitting on the shelf. Maybe using a inspection camera or something to see what you are doing.

Can you use the factory bleeder with trans in the car? I know it is tight.

If I had a way of getting my car high enough off the ground I might try it, BUT I’d be worried that because you’re screwing the bottom of the bleeder into the slave blindly and just by feel that you may think you have a good connection when in reality you stripped the connection threads
