It's nothing to worry about. I've had it in mine from day one. Some say that it is just brake dust and that taking the wheels off and cleaning under and behind there helps. I never bothered to do it. It doesn't hurt anything or affect anything. So it's ok as far as I'm concerned.

Many of us have had the same issue, I believe there is even a tech bulletin. Step one is simply make sure the wheels are torqued properly. For many this will solve the issue - I believe it is 140 ft lbs.
If that doesn't work remove the wheels to clean corrosion off the back of the wheel and the mating surface of the hub. Apply a thin white layer of lithium grease, put the wheel back on and torque it down. It's easy to do and doesn't take much time. From what I know this has worked for everyone who has had this issue. |

I had the same issue. Followed the steps listed above (clean wheels and torque lugs). No ticking since.

take it to the dealer, they will clean the mating surface of the wheel and rotor. I just took mine in a few days ago.

So interesting thing,. this was a HUUUGE concern for the Generation 2 CTS-V's. It sounds like absolute crap when turning in garages and is a bit embarassing. There were at least three service bulletins for it,
First, they released a TSB asking techs to re-torque the lug nuts. to a new setting. Second, they upgraded from 1 piece to two piece front rotors and released a service bulletin to allow individuals to upgrade their rotors from 1 piece to 2 piece for free. The last bulletin basically said, just take off the wheel, clean the back of it, and consider putting something like silicone grease there for lubrication which gets rids of the sound. I found that when I changed my wheels, the sound went away for BOTH my CTS-V and my ZL1. smh... #GMIssues

Just had a guy in local group that was complaining of a ticking noise while turning. supplied a video as well. Could be duplicated just turning the wheels back and forth in a stationary position. Turned out that the dealer ended up replacing the steering rack for an internal fault.

I disagree with the corrosion hypothesis ...
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=61 Bottom line is that you need to ensure the mating surface between the wheel and hub are spotlessly clean (no grease). Nigel |
