KR running ethanol and the TB closing sounds like torque reduction/TM

Either way, this gear swap is pretty incredible for what it's been able to offer (optimized of course)

Man, when I raced you last night I could barely make out your tail lights after botching the 2-3 shift and running a 12.2. I could tell you were moving!

Especially with your mods.

Congrats. Makes think 4.10s and some more tuning tweaks will make the M6 more respectable.

I am #212 on that first slip. Snowblind tells me picking up more than 25 MPH on the big 1/2 of the track is a good thing. News to me. Here I picked up 30 MPH. If I could only harness that energy.

Hmm, the more I think about this it makes sense. I spend most of the last half of the track in third in the meat of my short power band.

30mph on the back half is crazy for these cars. At least for an A8 is. Most I have seen is 26 personally.

The botched 2-3 shift and in turn slow 86 mph front half is the reason for the 30 mph back half.

I see most of your other slips that are 26-27 mph. Still very fast. My car is 24 usually. 25 at most. But I've yet to run in negative da or even low da with my current mods.

Hey fraxum, what was the best run last night when you were at the strip with your newest mods?

12.040 @ 120.47. My best time was before the porting and E85 and 11.824@118.48. I ran a few 11.8s in 1K DA this summer. I did pick up 2 MPH and the car now seems to run 12.0s in any weather. I should run with the Gamblers.

Yea that explains it, I was starting with a little lower wind resistance. I am putting more power to the ground but you A8s make so much better use of the power.

Looking forward to getting beat by another 2 car lengths by the A10 SSes. There is this A10 ZL1 that comes to Atco, but I think so far his best was 11.8. He was there last night, but I didn't get to talk to him. He is still learning to drive his car.

alright and that's the reason I asked. The A8 will make more use of the extra power when compared to a m6 from a dig. Kinda sad i got a m6. Oh well it is what it is.

How did you get your shifting sorted? Did you have to do something similar to what I mentioned in my previous post or is the A8 different? I was looking at my factory tune last night and can see why my car is short shifting 1st. My commanded wot shift mph is set to 19mph in normal. I would think it needs to be 46mph like the rest of the tables. I can run 3 tenths faster manually shifting with the shifter, which should not be the case imo.

Also not to hijack your thread but what was your stock commanded timing? 22 degrees is what mine shows.
Commanded shift mph can be inputed like you've been doing but I cheated a little instead, I used the stock tire height inputs instead of the 28.7 tire height. When I entered the correct tire height it was not giving me enough lead time for the shift. Try raising or lowering the tire diameter in your tune and see where it goes.
Paddle shifting is much slower, this thread proves it.

Thank you. I think their is still some meat on the bone after I get my tune lined out, like you said.

Not so fast homie. Something tells me that GM has instituted safeguards in it's programming that doesn't allow anywhere near it's full potential. Ford has the same trans but with different software, I'll be interested to see if they give it a little more leash and not as much TM. I can't knock the ZL1's but they aren't exactly wowing me so far.

It's definitely different than a stall. I pulled the NPP fuse so it's not so subtle, and with it's steep gears it revs so quickly that it sounds like you want to race everyone at the green light. The car is twitchy down low, (love it btw) but I am somewhat afraid of my wife or daughter driving it. You sneeze and accidentally hit the gas...it's alot of power on demand.
I have a throttle controller that I bought last year, hated the lag, kept it on sp4 always before...now it is at 0, it is that insane now.

Thank you and thanks for the tune tips. You're a stand up guy brother, appreciate the help. Run that 9.9 and you may have a heads/cam customer too.

LOL. Now I have to get there. Let's get you lined out first. Then we will worry about my car.

Snowblind, are you going to keep the diff? Going to the track tonight? Maybe once you are sorted you can help me sort out my tune and in return I can help you with giving any computer a new life.

Also what gear do you A8s want? Richmond is considering a 3.90 and a 4.10. I think the 3.90 will be a slow seller so I can at least give them a hint.

We need a 3.0 and 3.15 gear set. Anything deeper than that is not going to help.
