ZL1 1LE Wheel help? Weight?

I've searched so far and can't seem to find if anyone has been able to weigh the ZL1 1LE wheels yet un-mounted & mounted. Looking for weights of the rears mainly however the fronts would be helpful I supposed for others as well.

Anyone? TIA

Haven't personally seen any weight figures either, but I'm interested to find out.

If those weights are correct, they need a diet!

An OEM wheel is usually heavier due to the validation requirements they must meet. It would be interesting to compare the Moment of Inertia between various wheels. You can have a wheel with a lighter static mass that has much worse (or better) MOI characteristics.

I'd love to see a test of various OEM and aftermarket wheels.

Here's an interesting article on a test of some high end bike wheels back in 2008. If you scroll down to the very end paragraph, you'll see results where heavier wheels had better rotational inertia.

Well, 20-22#'s I would think, now, on a car costing over 70k, why not go carbon fiber?

If you wanted the 1LE package to cost $12k instead of $7500, great idea. This car at $70k is a screaming deal.

If that's all it would cost as an upgrade, I'm all for it on this track car, it would still be a great price point.

ITT: a shocking discovery that OEM wheels aren't as light as wheels that don't need to pass any safety regulations or OEM quality standards.

If you're looking for a super lightweight wheel that can also handle a full season of track days, we can most certainly be your option

Our R101 Lightweight wheels pass the most stringent wheel certification test, TUV testing in Germany/Austria. Anyone can make a lightweight wheel, that's easy, what's difficult is making a lightweight wheel that still holds up to impact testing and serious track use, aka the durability of the design/wheel. Luckily Honda and Acura race teams use this R101 Lightweight design as well as a few Porsche teams so we're getting some great feedback on these wheels.

Front - 19x8.5 - 16.8lbs
Rear - 20x11 - 19.2lbs

I don't think GM put a bunch of weight in this wheel just to pass a safety test, that seems odd seeing that I'm sure they have the ability to make a lighter wheel with the same amount of durability, but maybe it was a matter of the overall cost? Not sure, just speculating but either way that's good for lightweight wheel manufacturers
