Tire Inflation Kit?

Did your new 2016 Camaro come with a tire inflation kit in the trunk?

Not mine. I heard they are really cheap to purchase.

My 2SS has run flat tires, but I am going to buy a kit so I can help others...

Runflats have no kit.....
Here's a good system (Conti Comfort Kit) that I've carried for years on various cars..

Please allow me to display more of my virtually unlimited ignorance and ask if those of us with run-flat tires should have some kind of a kit onboard for ourselves?

I have not owned run-flat tires before, nor have I owned a car or truck without a spare tire and jack. It kind of alarms me.

ETA: And yes, I read the manual about how to drive on them if you do get a puncture.

Not really necessary. A flat will just slow you down until you can get it professionally repaired.

The SS's don't have the kit. I have a Ryobi Cordless inflater. Works great!

So, these things are repairable (within reasonable constraints)? Would you trust a repaired tire at speed?

I don't believe runflats are repairable.

Thanks for the responses folks. I'll call my sales person back and tell him he doesn't have to keep running around and trying to find the missing kit since I have run flats.

I too am uncomfortable with the concept of run flats. I probably will pick up some kind of air/repair kit for peace of mind. On my motorcycles, I use a "Plug and Go" plugging system and have used it twice. Worked great both times. Don't know how it would work on run flats though.

I suspect after I burn through this set of tires, I'll go back to old school tires.

Runflats ARE repairable if you don't use the runflat part of the tire. If you have a puncture and take it off the car to get it patched you'll be good. It's when you drive on them after a pressure failure that destroys them.

There is quite a bit of variance on what happens after with run-flats. With some tires it depends on residual pressure, whether or not it was used in run flat condition, etc. Further a Camaro owner will want to confirm that the speed rating isn't lost when repaired. With Pirelli (for example) repaires are allowed but V rated tires and up lose their speed rating, H and below maintain it.

Those recommendations have been changing and it's something I would want to make an informed decision on, I'd be carefully checking the facts if the time comes.

Many shops won't repair run flats, especially if you've driven on them flat, which is valid. But others just have a policy of replacing them only, no repairs allowed. And that's just another way to make money.

But if you have a nail and there's still air and it's not in the sidewall, it is repairable.
As to whether it retains the speed rating? I don't know.
