I'm not saying they are right on the money with this estimate, but replacing the rear diffuser is a pretty tough job... the splitter is trivial and the side skirts are intermediate, but overall one still has 4 physical body parts to install.
It definitely took me more than 5 hours combined to install these, but then I'm just a DIY amateur. The service department has specific instructions on billable hours from GM on each part and kit, and if that (usually highly ambitious) document says 5 hours, I don't see why they would want to charge less.

What pisses me off is when they give you a price quote and when you say no they say oh we can do it for half that after you refused a $1100 quote. That is bullshit business practice and it’s wise not to ever deal with those M effers

I know it's probably not going to be a popular decision, but I decided to have them do the install after all. I based my decision on a number of factors, but the main one is I just don't have the time to do it myself. I typically work 6 days a week and I don't want to have to wait until I have a free weekend to get it done. The car was already there so I just told them to do it for the $625. It's still a lot of $$$, but i figured $125/hr is a little more reasonable than $220.

I had purchased the 2nd gen gfx kit myself off of a local on ebay. OEM. Came with the side skirts, splitter, and defuser.
They wanted to charge me $600 for the lot. However I only wanted the splitter and side skirts installed. After clarifying this, they lowered it to $450. But this was during the original purchase of the car.
