First flex fuel pull. 96F today. 40% ethanol yielded another 20 FT/lb on top of the best 93 oct pull...Crazy!!..

Steady climbing! Still bone stock, flex fuel @73% ethanol.
Also ran my P.B. 0-60. I can no longer boost launch at all without completely breaking the tires loose. Really need to think about LSD swap.

Swapped out my spark plugs today for some NGK 6510's. Stock plugs looked pretty bad imo for 7500 miles. I'm going to keep an eye on number 3 and 4. May swap too platinum's from iridium's. The NGK's are one step cooler, I suspect the car will respond well, and hopefully keep some more timing.

Only took it for a short cruise, but already noticed an immediate smoothness to the engine. Should be doing a pull on full E85 soon.

Up another 10+- ft/lb on colder plug and a bit more ethanol @ 80%.
Also KR is below factory levels now. Car feels really good. I think this may be approaching the maximum limit on tune only safely, with out adding more ethanol. Hell of a climb from where I started!

Dang those are some nice numbers! If you don't mind sharing, at what rpm are your max torque and hp?

Torque is an easy one. Exactly 4472 in 5th gear. 4th gear is closer to 5000. But only hits around 350 ft/lb. I believe the TCM may be intervening even in 5th. My TCM is still un-tuned, so there is most likely more left on the table.

I am making around 338HP. I have not shown or spoke of HP numbers, because I can not definitively show the data here for reference. I asked Brian the same question though, and he is using a custom PID and the following equation:
HP = torque (lb-ft) x (Engine speed/ 5250).

He explained: It's just a mathematical relation, which is why when you graph hp and torque (in the units of lb-ft) on a dyno the two lines always cross at exactly 5250 rpm.
Made perfect sense to me.
I don't know how to calculate RPM though,..
My tuner has a similar equation rigged up in HP Tuners. I haven't looked at the exact math though, but I imagine its similar. He believes generally the numbers on the log will be within +-5 on the dyno, at least from his experience. He's tuned a guy in russia that's about 326hp and 373tq on 93 pump gas, and the numbers were right in there with the logs.

My car with a baseline tune, and all the stock parts (no bolt ons), currently reads 300/312 on 91 pump gas when I have the tuned ECM in the car. After I get all the bolt ons back on, he's expecting to see around 340/360

isn't technology great?

Oh really... I never thought too much about the numbers, mostly just using them as a reference point, and making sure with each change that number went up. That would be awesome if its that close to actual RW numbers. Come to think of it, I remember thinking my original stock pull was pretty low (270ish ft/lbs) as I was expecting the stock rating of 295ish. Your tuner is probably correct then, considering drive train loss, 270's would be right on the money for RWT. Crap, learn something new everyday, thanks for that Jason!! (Awesome numbers on that 93 tune BTW!!)

A little update after about 1000 miles on E85.

Couple of things I was not expecting. First, the smell of the car burning E. I actually find it pleasant, a sweet-alcohol type smell. Others have noted it mildly burned their eyes when standing behind the car. I find that to be a bonus, lol. The second thing I want to mention is fuel economy. With my driving style, tuned on 93' - I was averaged 30mpg over 500 miles. flexTuned on pump ethanol - I'm averaging 23mpg.
Now I will say on E , I seem to keep my right foot down a bit more than before haha, so that could be a hair better.

25$ gets 11 gallons of E and I can drive 253 miles.
25$ gets 7.6 gallons of 93' , I can drive 228 miles.
So the bottom line for me, I get a LOT more power, for less $$$$ on pumpE

I love this build thread. Great work. Did you find it difficult to add the E85 sensor? Correct me if I'm wrong, you can run premium unleaded or E85 or a mix of both?

Thanks man! I will be honest, I WAY overthought it at first. Once I had the kit in my hands though, it was super easy, one bolt, ground wire, power wire, and trigger wire to pcm.

And yeah, you are right. I can run any combination of fuel % between

87-e98 and the tune will compensate.

(I wouldn't suggest 87 though unless your gonna throw some E in there also)
