We should have Randy do the time with the A10 ZL1/1LE.
The Manual ZL1/1LE did 1:34 at Laguna so I am think the A10 should be a little more faster.

I’d take a GT500 over a regular ZL1 for the same $$ new but that will never happen.

I'm curious - how about at msrp (assuming one could get a GT500 for msrp)? I went with a ZL1 because it is near the performance of the GT500, 250 lbs lighter, and quite a bit less expensive. I like the interior of the ZL1 better than the GT500 as well. Honestly, my GT Premium interior feels nicer than the GT500 I've sat in because of the metal look trim/buttons, and the spun aluminum accents that my car has. Anyway, the MSRP of my ZL1 build is $68,935 with gas guzzler tax (shadow gray metallic, A10, CF exposed hood insert, Premium info. w/ Nav, and CF shift knob cover). A comparable build GT500 (essentially a base GT500 w/ tech. package and gas guzzler tax) is $79,695. I understand for that extra $11k in the GT500 you're getting at least 110 more hp (more like 120-130 extra hp in reality), a dual clutch trans., a digital gauge cluster (not important to me), and a CF driveshaft. However, the reality of the pricing is that I was able to negotiate a dealer discount in addition to the GM rebates that might be in effect when my ZL1 arrives (est. in March - keeping my fingers crossed for some decent rebates at the time). For me, at a discount below msrp+potential GM rebates, the ZL1 becomes a lot more appealing over the real-life prices GT500s are going for. The GT500 is a beast no doubt, but you gotta pay to play!

Yes, and as impressive as that was it's also a dct vs an m6. On top of 110hp extra and 2 years of development more. Impressive non the less, but let's keep things in perspective.

Might have been when the Chuckwalla times were posted and weren't any better than some amateur unofficial ss 1le laps iirc.

If money wasn't a factor and I had a choice I too probably would go with a Gt500. Or I'd just get a 2019 ZR1 or c8 vette. |

If it was the same price as the ZL1 then I would probably still get the ZL1 just because it has all the options the GT500 has plus a lot more options that are not available on the GT500. That is if I had to pick only one. If I could buy a GT500 right now for ZL1 money then I absolutely would.
Same with the HC. I would pick the HC over the GT500 just because of better options. I also do not think the DCT is all that on the GT500. I mean, it is just an expensive option and I don't see any advantage that it gave the GT500 over the competition. The A10 is lightning fast as it is and allows the ZL1 to be geared perfectly. Same with the A8 in the HC. Ford would have been better off putting a modified A8 or A10 in the GT500 and keeping the price down. But with that trans it just seems misplaced...like a clown wearing a tuxedo. And yes you gotta pay to play. But I will not overpay to play. Idaho got his ZL1 for $10K cheaper than he would have gotten a GT500. Again, that is with the same options plus options the GT500 doesn't have. That extra $10K in mods will get him to over 800 RWHP on pump gas and over 900 on race or E85. Put that same money in the GT500 and you'll still be right around the same level of power but heavier. And then we're already seeing those engines starting to have failures while the ZL1 is pretty solid. So there is no advantage even when modding the GT500. You're just gonna spend even more money. |

I would love to see the Camaro ZL1 (non 1LE) VS Shelby GT500 (non CFTP). Both of them on Summer tires. I'm sure that the ZL1 would have a faster lap time at the track.

Per Savagegesse's video. The C7 GS had a better lap time compared to the C8 Z51. Both on Summer tires
