lost clutch at a autocross

Clutch went to the floor and could not pull it back up. I did get it to work by just starting the car in gear and then just pulled the clutch back up. Made more runs with no issue. I would not be heat related at all because it being first run and not a long one.

I installed a spring kit from Lingenfelter because of the possible issues with this. I have heard of many C6 Z06 cars that have the dreaded "clutch pedal stuck on the floor". The return spring kit is simple to install and should prevent any possible problems with the factory return spring being less than adequate.

Hey John, just a thought...did you do the brake reservoir cap fix on your Z/28? I found that you need to remove the cap "spacer" so the OEM cap can breath during track events. Next time your pedal does not come up double check your brake fluid cap pressure by removing the cap. I bet you'll find it under pressure and by removing the cap your pedal will return to normal return position.

And yes, what backeddy said also...you need to bleed the brake fluid from the reservoir before and after each track event as well.

Cool. Do the cars share the same setup? I don't recall.

As stated, change out your fluid and that will help a ton.

I do not think this is necessary after each event.

I had the same issue but mine gave little warnings long before the pedal went to the floor. Still do not know what it was but I suspect the oem fluid boiled in the clutch since we bled and put in srf in but failed to bleed the clutch at the same time.

I believe so....I'm almost 99.9% positive they share the same clutch pedal and reservoir set up.

You may be right buy it's a small thing to do to prevent this. Having your clutch not return when high performance track event would not be fun. A split second distraction can mean your into the wall ASAP depending on the course your on.

Just my .02

I'd actually be against using a stronger spring since the issue is actually caused by contaminated fluid, and the stronger spring would hide it longer, and perhaps long enough to let the dirty fluid infiltrate the seals, which starts the one way journey to eventually having to replace the slave cylinder.

Replacing fluid often is helps quite a bit. Also, not that I claim OP has done it, but no launches with semi-engaged clutch on these cars, please : )

if you were at the track during a session with your pedal stuck to the floor, you would be "FOR" the accessory spring which will cure this problem. No doubt the fluid needs to be fresh & new, but this issue isn't caused by cruddy fluid. It is the design of the factory return spring under the dash that causes this problem. It happens so much that I personally didn't want to deal with this issue on track. I consider it a wise investment with fresh fluid also. I have personally seen 2 C6 Z06s and a Camaro at VIR with their pedal stuck to the floor with recently flushed systems. http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...9#.VXLiQHD3arU
