New, bigger battery. Big difference.

I have had the "starter heat soak" issue or whatever the problem is, where the motor struggles to turn over when hot.

I just installed an Optima yellow top with 800 cc amps. It was $300. The difference just in cold start up is significant. Motor turns over immediately and smoothly. With my old battery, it took 2-3 seconds cranking and sounded labored.

I am taking it out tomorrow to get it hot and see if the starter still has the heat soak starting issue.

Let us know! Mine is the same way and I've seen people say replace the battery, replace the starter, add a ground wire, add a heat shield... I've been considering that Optima battery, I hope it helps!

My starter was doing the same thing, so like you I put the biggest battery I could and the car starts a lot faster now, but living in the south my starter still gets heat soaked in the summer months and labors to start from time to time. Here is the battery that I bought - https://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...cca/sli48agmdp

Drove 600 miles round trip and it started strongly and smoothly at every stop. Ambient temps were 70-75 degrees.

Sure that will work for a while, but the issue is the starter cooking. I wrapped my starter and put back the heat shield to.

I'd keep it on the Optima trickle charger, the only way I've had long term success with Optimas.

I found my battery drain. It was the morimoto sequential tail lights.
